Calzaghe haters, they are going to duck this thread .

While I agree he didn't fight everyone, it was only partially his fault that he couldn't.

it was because calzaghe didn't have to move up/down a weightclass

all that changed when hopkins was at lightheavy and calzaghe had to move up

Nard has turned down a lot of fights:

Then, following James Toney's impressive victory over Vassili Jirov, Hopkins shifts focus again, and decides that Toney could be an impressive cash cow. Amazingly, Hopkins was offered the better split of the two, as Toney capitulated to his demands, and Hopkins was to be the recipient of a $3M deal.

Now that he is big news again, Toney was willing to concede to Hopkins' demands, to ensure the fight got made, and what's happened, Toney is now having to look to the challenge of O'Neill Bell, in order to get a fight in the near future, and now Hopkins is calling out Ottke.

HOPKINS: People want to me to go up to 190 pounds to fight "superman" and be basically a sacrificial lamb but these same people will do their best to keep Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Ricardo Mayorga among a few, away from me. Why don't these people want those guys to fight me?

Toney: I mean Bernard is Bernard and according to him he is the smartest man in boxing with his negotiating paydays and now he is going to get his ass knocked out by William Joppy for like $150, 000 (Chuckles). Now, that's a smart man! I am not worried about Bernard, Bernard is the one chasing me because I'm hot and he's not.

Obviously he was scared and wanted to wait until he was 42 to fight him.

Calzaghe slapped away at him to a SD "win". Just imagine what he would have done to a 36 year old Hopkins since that was back when Calzaghe had his mythical power.

Yes, of course. I forget the Calzaghe scoring criteria places a a strong emphasis of ineffective aggression.

According to compubox stats: Hopkins threw 18 punches per round and landed 6 punches per round. He was allowed to clinch as a form of strategy, which is illegal he was also leading with his head which is also illegal. At other times in the fight he blatantly headbutted Calzaghe. He should of been docked points for his antics in that fight. He was way too negative and stunk out the ring with his antics, he deserved to lose that fight.

The only reason he fought Calzaghe at that point was so he could avoid facing someone in his own divison, Calzaghe should of turned him down.
