Who was the last HW champ that was hyped up who wasn't african american??

I have been watching boxing since mid - late 90's and dont remember a caucasian/asian/sth american HW champ that had great exposure. Lewis was there but not many people liked him although I did, I liked him more than tyson too. But seriously I cant think of one in the past 15 years that had people talking.

I think too many fans (not hard core) when they think HW their minds go to Ali and Tyson and some people don't relate to that.

I think of this only in the HW division. Other divisions have a well balanced fan based, besides the lower weights of course.

In aus there is a small and loyal fanbase, I even remember going to my local sports bar to watch a fight and Vic Darchinyan was their I was like WTF!!! Trying to get a bar to put on a small but decent PPV's wont happen. They didn't have the last Kilt's ad Hopkins fight, but they put on Mundine's fight defences against Argentinian bus drivers on cos he can talk **** and get publicity.

It probably has more to do with HBO detesting doing tape-delay fights, and the Klitschko's refusing to do their fights at 4am or whatever in order to facilitate a live feed for American TV. They make enough with the gate and the German TV where they dont really need HBO at all. Must be nice........
