that fact floyd relies on his boxing ability not soley on his physical attributes like roy means he will be able to fight on like hopkins and still beat elite fighters

Exactly. And the right opponents can cover it up. Roy was full speed on the decline when he fought Ruiz and it's actually quite obvious when you watch the fight. At that point he had already been slipping for quite some time. But against Ruiz it slapped you in the face; only you couldn't tell because his opponent was so slow. Same with Floyd--it will come to light soon.

Jones was able to stay on top as well after he began slipping--he didn't crash land with Tarver, he was already descending by then. What ruined it for him was trying to go back to 175 from heavyweight.

At what age to you think fighters start their decline, 30+? I remember Hagler in the Leonard fight he looked pretty bad and what do you think when fighters start to improve after this age instead of decline?

Honestly...watch his fights at the lower weights and early 147....much faster and slicker..just an animal at 130,135 and 140......he's actually been physically in terms of speed and reflexes on the slide for a while now.....trust me i've seen all of his fights...most 5 or more times.......even foot speed......thats what happens when u become inactive and continue to eat garbage food into your 30's.........

U could tell big floyd was wholly unimpressed with Floyd jr's performance against JMM judging by facial expression and body language in the ring after the fight..........

Floyd needs to up his game!!!!! None of this "money" mayweather bull****....BRING BACK THE PRETTY BOY....he was much hungrier and better
Yeah I noticed exactly what you pointed out in the JMM fight, but i'm going to choose to believe that was due to inactivity. I want him to stick around for a while performing his best. There is no other boxer quite his skill level at the moment.

I don't even want to believe that Shane is near the end of his career. One of my favorite fighters. I hope he KOs Floyd and then Pac and goes out with a ****. Now there is talks about Pac retiring too.

Boxing won't be the same without Pac, Floyd, Shane. I hope the best to them all and hopefully none of them (wishfull thinking for Shane) will slip anytime soon and will stay around for a while.

He ain't what he was at 130-140 but he's still very good. What I noticed the most against JMM was that his straight right hand wasn't land as accurately as I'm used to seeing. Mayweather did say that alot of people were telling him that he got stronger, and he did look bulkier. So he's probably stronger though.

I think every boxer suffers from diminishing speed, reflexes and other physical attributes over time. Several instances exist in RJJ, B-Hop etc...

But those boxer's who depend solely on those physical attributes suffer the most over time. While boxer's who depend on acquired skill last longer and are able to compete well past their prime.

                      Two good examples RJJ & B-Hop -

RJJ had incredible speed, power and reflexes and used those attributes consistently to win fights. But once age started creeping in, he no longer was able to count on his bread and butter to win fights anymore and his decline was abrupt.

B-Hop never had the speed, reflexes or power of a RJJ, but he had incredible boxing technique, high boxing IQ and skill which lasts longer in boxing. So B-Hop, who didn't depend solely on speed & reflexes which diminish over time, is able to pull out fights well past his prime.

It remains to be seen how Floyd's diminishing speed and reflexes will affect him because he's still in his prime. But, its my guess that he will follow in the footsteps of a B-Hop, because he doesn't depend solely on his physical attributes to win fights. He depends on his skill and boxing IQ.
