I totally agree with this. He was severely weight drained and realised he had know chance of winning the fight in the condition he was in.He just looked washed up and weighed drained. At the weigh in he looked like one of the skeletons on display at the London Science museum.
In the fight he gave it his best. He didn't look terribly hurt, it was more like "I can't be bothered anymore, I'm not gonna win tonight in the shape I'm now in, might as well finish it".
I still consider him one of the best lower weight boxers everComment

good post and if I may addThere's a difference between what Morales did and what let's say Victor Ortiz did.
Morales is an old 30 something year old, he's been in countless wars and his body has taken a beating. He couldn't continue because his body wouldn't let him. He has nothing to prove to anyone because he's already proven it in the ring countless times.
Victor Ortiz on the other hand, is young, strong and has never been in 1 war. There's no reason for him to quit or not want to continue. He said he doesn't deserve to get beat on like that, where as Morales and Marquez have said they are willing to DIE in the ring, that's the difference in their mind set.
One thing is to be old and past your prime like Morales, DLH, Chavez when they couldn't come out of the corner. Another is to be young like Ortiz and not want it anymore.
Morales spent most of that camp trying to make weight not prepare for the fight. His body was no longer reacting to training the way he was used to. He literally had nothing left and if there was ever an instance where it would be okay for a fighter to call a halt to the fight it was in that scenario. Manny could have seriously hurt him that night
and Ortiz was right in the fight, was giving a good account of himself, and had Maidana hurt and floored a few times. This wasn't where he was in a dire strait where he could get hurt due to his condition he folded up and said he didn't want anymore
I am such that I would like to see him move on from this but this is a serious question mark on his make up as a fighterComment

He quit like a ***** too. But at least he took a beating first unlike Morales in the 3rd fight. Don't give me he's been in wars crap either cause DLH was in some as well.Comment

The sad thing is that he is making a comeback at 147
