Well if Dawson and Bernard ever fight, Bernard will prob want at least 60/40...

If the public demands I think Bernard will fight him...Chad doesn't seem to care either way...if he called Bernard out I think that would change things...not saying he should have to

I doubt very much Dawson would have an issue with it.

Maskaev was a possibility at the time, he was trying to do a roy jones. And who did he fight instead of Maskaev? Joe Calzaghe, whom people were say he was ducking. So if Haye isn't going to happen, don't rule out Dawson just yet.

I'm not ruling him out. We'll see. But I'm not ******. Dawson's stock isn't going to change any time soon so neither will hopkins' excuse. It's not like he hasn't had the opportunity before. Somehow I suspect we'll still be taking the "wait and see" approach after Jones as well.

          edit

Maskaev wasn't a possibility. He just said Maskaev and threw it out there. Not everything Hopkins says is the gospel.

I think Bernard craves to do things that have rarely or never been done before...some of them are outrageous though...I don't like the heavyweight talk, and don't really believe it...

You said it yourself, it's just not believable. He's more likely to fight at 168. But he hasn't done anything outrageous in forever so I don't know. It's funny, I used to be called a Bernard nuthugger by the Calzaghe fans on here. The bottom line is that he's an ATG who has had a fine career but enough. Either retire or fight someone real. This fight here is a total slap in the face.

                  And NATAS,

As for my belief that Hopkins may be juicing, it is an opinion. I have my own reasons for believing it that you may not be privy to, just like you may have your own info that I may not be privy to. But I have no problems declaring it. If my opinion bothers you so much then try to remember at the end of the day that it's just an opinion - I've never seen him take a shot.

Chad has called him out clearly and multiple times... Some of the articles were even published here on BSCENE - "Hopkins is ducking me"

there were discussions for the fight though and the WBC didn't allow it if I remember correctly. I'm not going just by hopkins words
Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer extended an offer to Maskaev and promoter Dennis Rappaport last week, and they are interested.

                      [...]

Rappaport, who returned a few days ago from Moscow, where Maskaev defends the title Dec. 10 against Peter Okhello, said he's interested in pursuing the fight.

"Is a Hopkins fight a fight we have interest in? Absolutely," Rappaport said. "Can it be made with numbers that make sense? That remains to be seen.

"It's certainly something we would consider, although not at the numbers, frankly, that were discussed. We've got to beat Okhello, and then we've got a situation where Hopkins is a possibility. But we also have a possible unification fight with Wladimir Klitschko, and we want to see what happens with Evander Holyfield in November [when he faces Fres Oquendo]."

You can find numerous other articles online with both parties discussing the potential of the fight.

Now of course hopkins/golden boy could have been using this as a smokescreen for negotiations for Calzaghe, but the potential was there and it was discussed.
