I don't see Calzaghe having the power to stop even that version of Jones. I wouldn't say that he quit, he tried to get Calzaghe out of there or lower his workrate by countering with powershots. He didn't belive Calzaghe could take his power. He was wrong and after round seven he could only see good with one eye.

That's how I had it.
What's the other round people are giving him? the second?
Joe was already taking the piss out of him in the 2nd round.
Roy landed a great uppercut in the 6th. Apart from that and the flukey forearm he didn't do much. And willingly played counterpuncher and had points piled up against him. Joe took the piss incessantly because actually Roy wasn't really engaging. And whenever Roy backed off to the ropes he may as well have said: here, you take this round.'Comment

I gave him the 12th round where Calzaghe decided to coast to the victory. That's how I had it.

What do you think went wrong with Jones, post Ruiz?I don't see Calzaghe having the power to stop even that version of Jones. I felt like giving Jones a round or two from the first onwards out of sympathy. That shows how much of a whitewash it wash. That's how I had it.

Anyway: This fight was meaningless - it was a showcase for Joe to bow out on ( As stated by himself ) and for Both of them to make a couple of million each.Comment

Jones's handling of Nunn and Tarver when they were his mandatories at lHW come to mindYou make a good point.
Roy would win in his prime but he wouldn't be dominate.
Calzaghe is a awkward southpaw with alot of speed, good chin and high workrate, thats never easy to deal with especially for Roy who appeared to have trouble with lefties throughout his career.Comment
