I remember when Richard Shafer offered to pay a top 3 accounting firm for an audit of UFC's PPV numbers since the UFC is a private promotional company and can release any figures they like as oppossed to a publicly traded company such as HBO. The UFC declined the invitation.

whats up with the hate of mma. i thought us boxing fans weren't girls. ufc isnt going to die, its not a fad, face reality. these sports dont have to compete each other. if so, then ufc is killing boxing. ppv maybe not but in merchandise, tv, gyms, and also its fighters are more in depth with the fans. i mean i live in vegas as well and i box and i see pros but never really interact with them. when i did mma (ya i have experience) there were tons of pros and they interacted and helped me all the time. from a boxer:

        ufc is winning. sorry.

and mma fighters kill boxers (it may be a ugly beating with no science but a beating is a beating.) i have the experience to prove it. im guessing a lot of ppl on here do not.

i agree w/a previous poster in that UFC puts on fights that people actually want to see, and although they dont specifically have a ranking system, the people who do get title shots more often than not deserve the shot. It's amazing how UFC can put on a fight w/fighters in two different weight classes w/no problem while boxing couldnt put on one of the biggest fight in boxing history in may-pac

What does that have to do with anything? Do you assume Schaeffer or Oscar would hand over anything having to do with their company's information just to say, "Hahaha we make more than you!!!"

I think you can take a step back and easily say the UFC makes MILLIONS of dollars every year, just as GBP does.

First off, there's more money involved in boxing when it comes to their elite athletes purses. Also, it makes the negotiating process harder when you have different promotional companies involved. UFC all fight under the same umbrella, Strikforce-same umbrella, and so on.

Exactly why UFC wont "die" as fad. They are able to put fights that people want to watch. When people say nba they automatically think of the sport of basketball, you can't say that about boxing b/c it's not just one company. There's way too many politics involved.Plus theres about 5 belts in each division w/a whole bunch of divisions.
