Aside from Mayweather, Cotto has fought all of the top guys at 147, and I don't think Floyd is ever going to want that fight, especially since Cotto's losses. The only other guy left is Berto, and I don't think that's a great miss really.

154 has Martinez, Williams, Angulo and Cintron, who are all good fighters. LMW is not some bum of the month club.

Cotto has spent several years fighting very good opposition and avoiding nobody. Maybe he's looking to retire after this next fight, but if he does continue then I don't think he's the kind of fighter who would want to spent the next 2 years fighting C-level mandatories.

maybe its cottos plan to get a rematch against pacquiao

if pac-pbf pac-mosley goes wrong this late 2010 then pac will have to go in his 8th division title and a rematch with cotto @ 154

Cotto fought the top WW when it mattered, win, lose or draw he fought. What is he gonna do? Wait around for what, there are other challenges out there but really does need a good trainer if he wants to continue

Yeah, Cotto never ducked anyone and with the exception of fighting Mayweather, has done all that mattered at Welterweight. If he wants to try his hand at a higher weight then that's cool. Plus, I think he has said that he only wants another couple of fights before retiring.
