You really have to respect Ruiz. He's not a crowd pleaser but he did a lot with a lil bit and went pretty hard in every fight.

I doubt he's the savior from that clip. I would like to keep an eye on him though.

There will be more and more Mexican heavyweights..It has to do nutrition during childhood especially access to meat..Height has as much to do with nutrition as genetics..their are plenty of wide build genetics in Mexico all you need is a 5'11 or so to stack muscle on and you have a good heavy weight..I don't believe the current tall fighter domination is the end game of boxing. We wont have an NBA invasion problem.Power is generated from the ground and in alot of ways being shorter has an advantage of generating and delivering that power faster and in closer ranges. We just need to relearn some of the Old school inside fighting techniques to make clenching a painful experience..Once you can mitigate the clench you have taken away half of the fighting tall Strategy.. If any Lanky fighter tries to lay his weight on me he's going to pay for it.

it's just funny how you never hear of any Mexican Heavyweights,or even anything from Middleweight to Heavyweight on a world stage, just think it's remarkable if not as it's a country so rich in boxing history like it's a big part of life for Mexicans for it's always a country i associate boxing with probably more than any other.

anyone enlighten me on this subject?
            no.

but as for Mexicans above Middleweight, Yaqui Lopez was an excellent lightheavyweight who fought in a stacked division. had he been in a weaker division or one with 5 belts like today, he no doubt would have been a champion.

his fights with Matthew Saad Muhammad were absolute wars.

There is also a heavy weight prospect named andy ruiz. He had a good amature career and now trains at the wild card. He is to fat though and is trying to go down in weight but he is pretty fast for a big boy.
There is also another prospect named marcos reyes he beat yory boy campas and jose luis zertuche but lost but he is on the come back trail and knocking guys out.
