Has there ever been a Mexican Heavyweight champion of the world?

it's just funny how you never hear of any Mexican Heavyweights,or even anything from Middleweight to Heavyweight on a world stage,just think it's remarkable if not as it's a country so rich in boxing history like it's a big part of life for Mexicans for it's always a country i associate boxing with probably more than any other.

anyone enlighten me on this subject?

Chris Arreola wanted to be the First Mexican Heavyweight Champ when he fighted vitali but couldnt beat him....But Mexican fighters fight there hearts out...there true warriors which i respect and like about em...

Chris Arreola got to the point of becoming the first Mexican heavyweight champion when he fought Vitali. I think it's mostly genetics, South and Central Americans are typically shorter than most Anglos/Europeans/Blacks.

Mexicans just aren't built big enough to be heavy weight contenders. I'm the second tallest person in my ENTIRE family. I'm talking about extended etc. I'm 5'10 about 200lbs.
