This right here is my main point. There is a double standard in most people, when it comes to weight. When a fighter loses, size and age are the most two common excuses on here. They are the most often overrated here too.

Khan has to strip down to make 140 he is really a welterweight that has to work to fight at LWW. He has a big frame and growing depending on how long he continues boxing I can see him growing through welterweight to light middle easily and eventually getting to middleweight.

If Khan doesn't follow up with another good opponent in line after the fight with JMM, the less credit people are gonna give him for beating JMM if he happens to do it.

Yeah, Khan is gonna outbox him, the only way he wins is if he Khan gets tired and/or if his chin doesn't hold up.

His frame is for 130, where he would be, if he wasn't chasing Pacquiao. Dougie Fischer said he could probably still make 130 if he wanted.

If you can make the weight, then it's fine. Maybe not fighting the 126 pounders, but he was still a prospect at the time. The only reason why Khan even moved up in the first place was because Kotelnik was dangling the title right in front of him because he wanted a payday.

Especially considering Mayweather liked to let his hands go at that weight. Marquez has always had a tougher time with counter punchers too.
Knowledge and technique is worth a dog's **** if your body can't respond to what you tell it to do.

If a fighter's best attributes are agression, power and physical presence, then moving up in weight won't affect them as negatively as a fighter who relies on on reflex, timing, and hand speed. By adding additional weight, all those attributes are affected. Marquez at 140 is not the Marquez at 135 and DEFINITELY not the Marquez who became the name he is fighting Pacquiao. Marquez was having A LOT of trouble with Diaz and Casamayor adjusting to the weight. That was obvious.

I'm not making this a "Floyd cherry picked" Marquez thread. I'm responding to your question asking if Marquez is a blown up LW at 140. Yes he is.

ya i gotta agree with u there ... but its not like there nonissues either. basically why everyone is impressed with the way pac is beating all these 'bigger' men is cause we're putting too much onus on size/weight rather then talent often.

but its still a large factor that has to be considered factor size weight age ring age etc ...

I think Marquez is naturally about 2 divisions smaller than Khan.

If JMM was able to make the SFW limit in the future it wouldn't surprise me at all, and I think he looked smallish at lightweight.
