i wouldnt necessarily say hes 'ducked' anyone
he is however,a very smart guy,and the guy wont sign a fight unless the majority of things are in his favour
not sure why he pulled out of the calzaghe fight, maybe he just didnt wana know, but then why did he sign the contract, very strangeComment

I think it's possible that Hopkins might have fought Dawson if HBO hadn't have thrown out such a low ball offer on that fight. What Hopkins is getting paid to fight Roy Jones might be a solid and concrete amount of cash. But I fail to see how the promoters are gonna not end up losing money on that fight. Almost every fan I know of is boycotting that match except for the few hardcore Roy Jones fans who pay for his fights no matter what.Comment

I think HBO may have lost money with that BHOP Pavlik fight, the PPVs were only 190K. I think they finally realise that Bhop is a name, but not a superstar.Comment

He ducked James Toney as well in 2003:
http://www.********boxing.com/boxing...onnell1706.phpThen, following James Toney's impressive victory over Vassili Jirov, Hopkins shifts focus again, and decides that Toney could be an impressive cash cow. Amazingly, Hopkins was offered the better split of the two, as Toney capitulated to his demands, and Hopkins was to be the recipient of a $3M deal.
Now that he is big news again, Toney was willing to concede to Hopkins' demands, to ensure the fight got made, and what's happened, Toney is now having to look to the challenge of O'Neill Bell, in order to get a fight in the near future, and now Hopkins is calling out Ottke.Comment
I don't agree but it's funny.
