How Successful Will "The Event" Be?

when did i say mexicans dont watch mayweather?..Because you're acting as though Mexicans will support Pacquiao-Clottey and shun Mayweather-Mosley because they love Pacquiao.
Dude, I'm Mexican. I bet I know hundreds if not thousands more Mexicans than you. Many Mexicans do love Pacquiao. You know what though? Many Mexicans love Shane Mosley too. You know what else? Many many Mexicans just love a good fight. Most Mexicans could honestly give two ****s who is fighting as long as it promises to be a fun fight to watch.
But you said, Mexicans will throw their full support behind Pacquiao because they love him. Then you said, I'm the exception among Mexicans. Like you know Mexicans so much better than I do.
You want to know something. At my house I've had at least a dozen Mexicans over to watch Mayweather-Gatti, Mayweather-DLH and Mayweather-Hatton. I went to Vegas with about 5 other Mexicans to watch Mayweather-Judah. You think Mexicans don't watch Mayweather? Mexicans watch boxing you idiot. They don't like Mayweather, but they watch him anyway. You think that's going to stop for the Mosley fight? LOLComment

now we are on the same page! why do you think arum is stacking the event with mexican fighters as undercards???Comment

From the Jerry Jones and Bob Arum perspective, even if it doesn't do well on PPV, the live crowd, atmosphere, etc. being built up is an investment in big events like this in the future. They're guaranteed to make millions with the promise of potential huge fights in the future.I doubt it will crack a mill, but close to it 800k to 1M is good. And with the Texas folks having the opportunity to see a pacquaio fight, live gate can be big. It also helps that the stadium is so bad ass. I mean, if you have never been to the new stadium, now is a good a time as any.
I was just thinking about the whole scalping of tickets though, these guys scoop up tickets because they crank the price when it is sold out, with the capability of the stadium increasing seats, i doubt this is smart of them.
I think the potential of this "event" is very underrated they have the atmosphere, stadium, jerry jones (a very powerful man)a undercard full of mexicans, and pac. Expectations aren't very high in this fight, therefore it will exceed such expectations.
It's funny though the home of "america's" team is hosting a card full of foreigners
That said, I think it's dumb on Pacquiao's end because a fight with Mayweather would have been bigger and Clottey is no joke.Comment

everybody knows that. itll happen end of 2010.From the Jerry Jones and Bob Arum perspective, even if it doesn't do well on PPV, the live crowd, atmosphere, etc. being built up is an investment in big events like this in the future. I keep seeing people tearing down the Pac-Clottey fight as though it's an insult. I'm also disappointed Pac-PBF was halted. But as a boxing fan I will not complain about Pac fighting Clottey. GTFO and go watch MMA if you aren't interested in 2 top WW's squaring off.Comment

I doubt many Mexicans will buy the fight to see Castillo-Gomez though. That fight might bring in a few more sales at the gate, but the PPV is going on the strength of Pacquiao-Clottey. The undercard is ****ty.
Saul Alvarez and Victor Ortiz are the types of fighters people from where I'm from are excited about. Hopefully, at least one of them is in a legit good fight on Mayweather-Mosley.Comment

I never understand how people assume mexicans love and back pacquiao, my girlfriend is from mexico and her family cant stand him. When i was in guadalajara jalisco the few times i spoke boxing most of them who knew who pacquiao was had some interesting choice words for him, mostly oddly enough, what you would read on here abotu him being asian/midget etc etcthis is what i call pure hate. were not talking about a zab judah vs a nobody fight.
I can see about 50-60k gate sales, i dont think itll sell the 100k arena seats.
PPVwise, i think itll be around the million mark. i jus found out mexican families do the pinoy parties as well during pac fights. Mexicans will put in their full support on Pac (they love pac!) and the mexican stacked undercard. So if the floyd/JMM can break a million (no doubt 90% of the buys came from the hispanic community), this also will.
There is very little evidence that somehow suggests that mexicans have this full on support from pacquiao. i dont doubt some mexicans like him, but i dont see this overwhelming support from them.Comment

Saul Alvarez is almost as popular as Mystico right now, when i was in mexico he was probably the most talked about fighter in the state.I doubt many Mexicans will buy the fight to see Castillo-Gomez though. That fight might bring in a few more sales at the gate, but the PPV is going on the strength of Pacquiao-Clottey. The undercard is ****ty.
