it will do 100K. I have a cousin from Canada who will be watching this live together with his friends. He said maybe he wont be able to watch Pac fight coz Pac will retire soon and the tickets for this fight are cheaper than usual. This will be his first time to watch Pac fight live. this is an indication that Pac fans will come in full force,

Joshua Clottey is a top 5 welterweight.

This is Pacs 2nd Legit fight at welterweight, because Oscar wasn't a welterweight, obviously.

Clottey is absolutely fine as an opponent.

I think it will do 750k buys.

        If Mayweather walked away from Pacquiao then answer these two questions;

        1) Why were there three times during the months of December and January (before the failed arbitration) when Top Rank said the negotiations were over and that they were moving on, yet you heard no such stories from Team Mayweather or Golden Boy?

        2) Why do people like Freddie Roach and Bob Arum feel the need to constantly speak for Mayweather and convince us that Pacquiao is so offended by Mayweather?
(If I want to know what Mayweather's position is Freddie Roach and Bob Arum are the last people who would know. I doubt either has actually spoken directly to Mayweather in years. And if Pacquiao is so pissed off at Mayweather wouldn't he want to get him in the ring to kick his a$$?)

Why did Mayweather come up with ****** alligation of PEDs in the first place.. cause he was scared of Pac

Pac has tested clean for every drug including Ped and Pain killers

Floyd has tested positived for Pain killers.

Pac and Roach didnt want to give in Mayweather demands.. that like giving up the first 2 rounds.

Mayweather is playing mind games from the start... Pac just wanted to fight.

If Mayweather really wanted the fight he could have accepted the 24 day cut off..

We can do this all day..

I think clottey was the right choice. None of those other names jump out. At least clottey had been seen against cotto, no one knew any of the other guys.
No my point is that Floyd called Pacquiao's bluff. Pacquiao was playing some type of game. I guess he thought Floyd was going to back off of the demand for random blood testing and Floyd didn't. In the end, Floyd is likely to make more money, get more fanfare for his replacement fight, etc.

Pacquiao should have just agreed to take the tests, pride or not...it was the right thing to do. Now, he has a really tough fight that will not pay as much. His pride got the best of him. He should have just agreed to the fight against Mayweather.

I mean look. I'm just going to say this. In Olympic track and field athletes get tested for PEDs the day of competition on a regular basis. They still win...and sometimes they end up admitting use years later. The same thing happens in competitive cycling. The tests are necessary. Unless you don't care about PED use in the sport, which is a popular opinion.

That said, Shane Mosley has never failed a PED test, but we know that he used. Why? Because he got rolled up in a federal investigation looking into steroid use by baseball players (whuups, right?). Same thing happened to Evander Holyfield (again, whuups).

Yet, this hasn't spawned anything resembling a movement to better testing. Why? Probably money and lack of coordination. There isn't enough money in most fights and not enough people dedicated to working diligently to make sure the sport's participants are clean. The tests are necessary...just not usually cost effective. If you don't want to, at the very least, accept that fact then we're not having a debate and I could not care less what your response is.

I'm not questioning Clottey as an opponent. Like I said in the thread starter, I think Clottey has a better chance of beating Pacquiao than Mosley does of beating Mayweather. That said, how much of the public feels that way?

Also, another determining factor in the PPV success is how much of a letdown is Pacquiao-Clottey compared to a Mayweather fight? Then how much of a letdown is Mayweather-Mosley compared to a Pacquiao fight? I don't know the answer, but I suspect that Pacquiao fans and general sports fans will think of Clottey as more of a letdown. It's not Clottey's fault. He's a very good fighter and a live 'dog. He just doesn't have much name recognition.

I can see about 50-60k gate sales, i dont think itll sell the 100k arena seats.
PPVwise, i think itll be around the million mark. i jus found out mexican families do the pinoy parties as well during pac fights. Mexicans will put in their full support on Pac (they love pac!) and the mexican stacked undercard. So if the floyd/JMM can break a million (no doubt 90% of the buys came from the hispanic community), this also will.

nobody is looking at Pac-Clottey as an event
it's not being promoted as an event
it's a WW titlist defending against a top contender
nobody can say the fight isn't legit
of course it's not a mega matchup
                    but it's a credible fight
people who are whining, get over it
