it might be ****** but that's the truth of the matter. People were still dehydrating themselves before the rule change, just instead of 24 hours it was typically at 10:00 am (or 10 hours or so before the fight).

Unless there is some secret reason as to why dehydrating yourself is a good thing.

Maybe I'm missing black art aspect of boxing or something.

It should be quite obvious that people cut weight so they can fight in a smaller weight class.

For example, f you're 6'1 and you can fight at welterweight, then rehydrate 15-20 pounds over night, you will have a huge size advantage over most all welterweights.

Natas explained it good, should be sufficent. Some do it for size advantage some do it for other reasons. Whats important is 24 helps protect the fighters and fighters who are at home in the same division should rehydrate roughly equally. Only time it might be a little weird is when someone moves up in weightdivisions but they can still take their time and grow into the division.

To be fair mayweathewr said in a 24/7 that he is always in shape and has no problem making weight.
That the way all professional fighters should be in my opinion like ricky hatton putting on 40 ****ing pounds between fights WTF???? That is a DISGRACE for a 'professional' athlete
