Can some1 please explain why the weigh-in is always day BEFORE fight!

Hey guys can some one please explain to me why the weigh in is always the day before a fight. Ive just been lookin over some fights, and notice alot of boxers pile on up to 14lbs between the weigh in and the actual fight! NEARLY 2 WEIGHT DIVISONS. I cannot see the logic in this, if the weight is there so that both boxers are evenly match, do u not think it makes sence that the weigh in on the day so that they step into the ring at nearly the same weight.

Let me know u thoughts guys

    Some examples

Fight ---------- Weigh in -- Fight Nite - Diff
    Manny Pacquaio --- 138 --- 148 --- +10lb
    Ricky Hatton ------- 140 --- 152 --- +12lb

    Bernard Hopkins -- 170 ---180 - +10lb
    Kelly Pavlik ------- 169 -- 174 -- +5lb
    --
    JM Marquez -- 134.5 -- 140 -- +5.5lb
    Juan Diaz ---- 134.5 -- 139 -- +4.5lb

    Shane Mosley --------- 147 -- 160 -- +13lb
    Antonio Margacheato -- 147 -- 160 -- +13lb

Just a bit confused lads, ......What is the ****ing point in the weight divions if the boxers are actually going to stroll into the ring 14lbs heavier than they are meant to?????

the change was made to save lives.

Brain damage is more likely to occur when someone is dehydrated, thus the change to the 24-hour weigh in.

The downside to this is that people rehydrate lots of weight, as you know, and some much more than others.

That makes no sense. If people can't make the weight without dehydrating themselves, they shouldn't fight at that weight.

      Its ******.

TS, thats why you have to give Floyd props. No one thinks about that but he was consistently barely putting on any weight after the weigh-ins while other guys would gain 15 pounds like its nothing. Thats a huge advantage
