Comments Thread For: Warren Talks About Amir Khan Avoiding Maidana Defense

Promote Frank Warren thinks WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan will send the wrong message by avoiding a fight with mandatory Marcos Maidana. Khan and his trainer Freddie Roach don't think the fight is big enough right now and want to wait it out. Golden Boy Promotions, who recently signed Khan and currently promote Maidana, are looking to build the fight up. The WBA may force the issue. If they do, Khan is likely to vacate the belt. If Khan vacates, Warren says he should have done it against Dmitriy Salita. [Click Here To Read More]

Warren talking sense for a change.

It's quite obvious Khan is avoiding Maidana because he's a big puncher, and he doesn't want the possibility of losing his first fight under Golden Boy by devasting KO.

he is saying the obvious, khan doesn't want to fight a heavy handed fighter like maidana, instead someone with a "name" but small who will have to once again go up in weight,a weight that doesn't suit him, marquez has never really been a hard hitter, khans biggest name opponents have been marquez if fight happens and barrera, two small men

If anybody thinks Warren would have put Khan in with Maidana they are crazy. Golden Boy are much more likely to do that.

Under Warren, Khan would have been fighting Morales instead of Marquez.

Khan is going for the big name instead of facing his real challenge. This is how his career is going to go from now on.

yeah right frank , like hell you would have put khan in with bradley and maidana had he stayed with you . In an alternate reality where khan stuck with warren he'd be fighting cesar rene cuenca next

                  won 37 (KO 1) + lost 0 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 38
                  rounds boxed 282 KO% 2.63
