Is there double standards with Mayweather and Calzaghe right now?

Sure I did somewhat. I think that guys like Sobat, Brewer, and Viet are the same level as Ndou and Bruseless. The thing that gives Floyd's resume at that time any credibility are his wins over Castillo and Corrales. But other than that, his resume is pretty much neck and neck with Calzaghe's. Who did Chavez or Carlos Hernandez ever beat? Or Manfredy for that matter? Genaro Hernandez pulled a quit job over Oscar and never fought again after Floyd beat him. It's even worse than giving Hatton credit for beating Tszyu other than the biased ref factor.

I mean, I know Shane is on top and beat down Margarito and everything. But Hopkins was still considered the best LH in the world like Mosley is at 147 and Calzaghe didn't get any credit for beating him and understandably so.

Mayweather should have to dominate Mosley in order to be immune from the type of criticism that Joe got for not beating Hopkins convincingly. It's only fair. And plenty of people say Hopkins ducked Calzaghe in 2002 and they have a right to stand by that, even though I think Joe would've pulled out of the fight with a freak injury or something if Hopkins decided to fight him.

The difference is, like it or not Floyd HAS fought great fighters, especially in America(where the greatest fight) but gets no credit and will continue to do so in his next fight, while Calzaghe stood in Europe until the end of his career then decided to take a couple of great fights then quit.

Floyd and Calzaghe are comparable to some extent in this way. Floyd fought better guys because he is a better fighter, but both took calculated risks. They both played it smart in and out of the ring, minimized their risks, and kept their 0.

Jermaine Taylor has good skills, not great. I don't know who you think you're kidding there. And he's also been knocked out three times and would have never beaten a fighter on Mosley's level..

Yea but what kills me is that those same 95% fans who say Floyd opponent has zero chance of winning are the same fans who will try to make those wins greater than what they really... If Floyd is really fighting a guy who has no chance of winning then you should not be giving Floyd no credit... Me personally I never gave Tito credit for KO'ing Thiam just cuz I knew Thiam had zero chance of winning... I just find it weird that they downplay his opponent so much before the fight... And, then after the fight they want to upgrade his opponent....

This is where the problem lies... just because your favored and better than the other guy doesn't mean you don't deserve credit it just means your that damn good.
