Okay no matter how you guys put it, no matter who you consider quality opponents on their lists of wins, one thing remains true, Hopkins has never fought a fighter like Toney, and Toney has never fought a fighter like Hopkins. In response to someone saying the Middleweight Toney would have won, that's just untrue, Hopkins would have beaten the Middleweight Toney. As far as Hopkins at Cruiserweight, I don't know how well he'll carry the weight (He does come in pretty big at fight time at middleweight, though.) Toney would of course come in weighing more at the night of the fight, but I'm not sure how big of an impact size would have when talking about their styles. 175lbs. would have been a better decision for Hopkins to face him, and that's if Toney could get down to that weight, but at Cruiser I kind of lead more towards Toney by a micro-margin only because I don't know what Hopkins can bring to the table at Cruiser. If Hopkins can be the same fighter at that weight as he is at Middleweight, I pick Hopkins.

All of Hopkins big name wins come against guys who are naturally smaller than him, and really in no position to test his chin, while Toney is fighting heavyweights, Hopkins fights blown up welterweights.

Trinidad hits harder than John Ruiz. Nuff said.

No I dont think Trinidad has the power to knock Evander Holyfield down and out with one punch but Ruiz does. And Evander Holyfield defintitely hits harder than Felix Trinidad the natural 147 pounder. And so does Vassily Jirov for that matter look what brain damage he caused to Mesi.

For the guy who said that Hopkins has fought better opposition than Toney - that is bull****. Since when has a past-prime Keith Holmes been world-class?? That's Hopkins best win. He promised he'd knock Keith Holmes out, he tried his best but he couldn't do it.

The only decent fighters who Hopkins has fought are blown-up Welterweights (Trinidad, Oscar).

Toney has fought much better - Toney defeated Middleweight Nunn, he defeated Middleweight McCallum twice, and he defeated Prince Charles Williams. Nunn and McCallum would OWN Hopkins, but Toney OWNED them.

You seem to be forgetting that Hopkins was around in the early 90's, but you had the best era of Middleweights in history around then - Barkley, McCallum, McClellan, Benn, Eubank, Nunn, Toney, Jones Jr, Julian Jackson and John David Jackson to name just a few. All of these guys would of OWNED Hopkins, most of them were YOUNGER than Hopkins!

Hopkins is just old left-overs from the 80's and 90's, nothing more than a crumb. The 160 divison has been empty for 10 years now so this guy Hopkins stands alone and has to rely on Don King's hype and blown-up Welters coming up to face him to try and make a name for himself.

If I remember correctly, Toney didn't own Nunn. He came from behind to knock him out after being Owned himself. I stopped reading there.

it goes back to chin...Nunn never hurt Toney but Toney rocked Nunn with power punches from the first round. they added up...

That division was so jam-packed back then, like a never-ending conveyor belt of talent. It was so packed that nobody was able to emerge as 'the best'. These days, Hopkins stands alone because 160 has been empty for 10 years.

Back in the early 90's, there was also Herol Graham, Steve Collins and Kalambay - all of whom gave McCallum fits! Whereas anybody with a brain cell knows that Hopkins would not trouble McCallum at all.
