    Bernard Hopkins vs. James Toney

Does anyone here remember when this fight was actually scheduled but then it was cancelled due to money issues? I think it was in the summer of 2003(but I am not positive)I was pumped for this fight, who do you guys think would have won this if it ever took place? I know now it would be alot different now because at that point Toney was fighting in lower weight classes. Its too bad this great fight had to be cancelled because of money, but this is boxing and money talks.

It was gonna be in October '03, but Toney signed to fight Holyfield when it fell thru...

I remember what the title of the PPV was gonna be for Toney-Hopkins, "The Battle of tha 'Hood: So Bad its's Good!"

pretty cheezy, but woulda been a great fight

Yeah, it would have been great fight. To me it would almost be a toss up but I think I would lean towards Hopkins.

Yeah I remember when this was supposed to happen. I think Hopkins would of did just enough to squeak by with a decision. Hopkins fighting from the outside would give Toney trouble and Toney's fighting on the inside would of got the better of Hopkins.

Hopkins would kick toney's ass today. They should sign a fight deal.

Yeah Toney is a fat tub of lard. He'll lose his first title defense.

I like Hopkins in 03, I think he'd of countered Toney to death because Toney's reflexes weren't what they used to be due to all the pie-eating.

But the 91/92 Toney would win 7 or 8 rounds if it went the distance (both have stubborn chins so it would probably go the distance).
