The overrated Bernard Hopkins

Yeah sure he did what you mean in that 1 fight which was life and death with Vargas? cause all his other fights pre that (minor some tuneup stuff) was 147 or lower. Looked spectacular vs the number 2 middle? well that goes to show how **** the division really was.. Tito is 2-3 in MW fights. Besides lets not go and pretend like Joppy is some world beater, he is a decent champion that is all..

so you only think hopkins dropped to 160 cause he lost his first fight? you don't think that had more to do with him having no experience or formal training? is clinton mitchell really that good.......... was he staying at middleweight his entire career just to avoid him? did he only come back to light heavy when clinton was retired? it all makes sense now.
...and again, i can give a two s**ts about what his formal training was like before his first pro fight....i understand his fanboys have to have a good excuse for why he lost to someone you never heard about ever again...lol..he fought, he lost...no excuses....but then again, name a fight hopkins lost, and i can tell you about 3 or 4 lame excuses his fanboys try to make me believe...lolComment

So you don't find these things in the tale of the tape and stuff? no your right they don't have height or reach divisions. But a guy who is taller, broader etc is not a bigger man

any way some of you seem to be gettin offended and to some i'm probably comin off lik a hater but i'm not i do believe bernard is a great fighter but some what overratedComment

Yes but if they weigh the same then who cares? that is his point. Being taller and broader doesn't make you better. Those can be advantages just as some people utilize a lack of height as well.Comment

I don't understand why that's funny. Vargas was an undefeated champ who was ranked in the top ten pound for pound at the time. And was ruined. Trinidad picked up his first belt at 154 against David Reid who was well regarded but also never the same after the Tito fight. To be fair, he hadn't been as impressive in his fight before Tito but his title-winning effort was very impressive against a good champ in Bouduani. As for Joppy, he was a decent champ (like you said) who got obliterated by Tito in a way that neither Hopkins could do or even Jermain Taylor when he fought a washed up version. The win solidified Tito's hold at #1 pound for pound.Comment
