Who's taken MORE risks? Mayweather or Calzaghe?

Hopkins was not 44 at the time... but, that was a risk, B-Hop was ranked #1 at 175 by the Ring and then in his next fight he totally dominated Pavlik. In a fight he was suppose to lose...
Kessler was a risk...
I don't know if you can consider Eubanka and Lacy a risk at the time... I think you can make a case either way...
Floyd took a risk with Chicanito, Corrales, his first fight with Castillo, and then given Castillo a rematch when he didn't have to...
Fighting a top 10 fighter in Corley at his first fight at 140 was pretty risky....
Plus his first title defense ever was against a top 5 SFW in Manfreddy, and at the end of his reign beating Chavez who was also in the top 5 at SFW...Comment

Quick answer... Calzaghe, cause no one is a risk to floyd, he's that good... LOL j/k - Honestly early career-wise it goes to Floyd, later career (although floyd's isn't over yet so this could change) i give to calzaghe.
I think floyd will change that though...Comment

People forget Mayweather has a very nice resume in the lower weight classes, like 130 pounds in particular.
It wasn't until 147 when it gets a lil questionable as far as "risks" go.
Mayweather has a lot of high risk, low reward type of guys on his resume at 130.
Calzaghe fought basically one or two real risks in lacy & kessler, and some low risk, high reward in hopkins & jones.Last edited by ИATAS; 01-26-2010, 04:46 PM.Comment

DLH, Corrales, Castillo, Judah, Hatton and even fat Marquez were bigger risks and greater wins than anything on Calzaghe record and that includes Kessler. Floyd's "risk taking" might be in question a lot nowadays, but he accomplished way more at 130 than Calzaghe did in his entire career.
Floyd cherry-picked for money. Calzaghe cherry-picked because he's overrated.Last edited by Swag Hustla; 01-26-2010, 05:13 PM.Comment

Mayweather took more risk earlier in his career. His comp at 130-135 was great. Hatton or Cotto (Arum) didn't want Floyd at 140. He really hasn't fought anyone at 147
Calzaghe took more risk later in his career starting with Lacy, Bika, Kessler, and Hop. 3 of those fighters were the ones people wanted Joe to fight. Wish he would've fought Dawson, but oh well.Comment
