So your argument is that technicality is an irrelevant asset even to sub-par competition?
Being able to mix it up shows a boxer’s maturity, going for the KO in every fight (especially in a reckless manner) isn’t a way to display technical skill especially when it’s against stellar opponents.Comment

People like to base their opinion off of what they've seen a few fights ago. His last few fights he has tightened up a lot more. He has been much more defensive, his hands have been up more, he has taken more time to set up his punches. The way you fight is the way you fight, there are a few guys like mayweather and hopkins who are versitile enough to abandon certain things when they know they have someone and Gamboa isnt that kind of guy, hes reckless, lacks defense and doesnt move his head. His upper body movement is stiff because of his monster muscular build. You wanna know my honest opinion? Gamboa isnt that far off from what Jeff Lacy was.
Also, when he HAS been knocked down, it's been off balance shots.. he's never once been actually hurt.
My honest opinion?
Not even close.Comment

I think you're underestimating Gamboa's skills, especially his defense. Gamboa does actually have pretty decent defense. He uses his footwork very well and reflexes to avoid punches and he covers up well. The thing is when he's attacking like a madman he leaves himself open, hence the flash knockdowns. He has cleaned that **** up though quite a bit.The way you fight is the way you fight, there are a few guys like mayweather and hopkins who are versitile enough to abandon certain things when they know they have someone and Gamboa isnt that kind of guy, hes reckless, lacks defense and doesnt move his head. And jeff lacy, are you serious? Have you seen gabmoa fight? lol, not even close in comparison. Gamboa has catlike reflexes man.Comment

I said he hasn't used it because the opposition he has faced didn't give him a reason to be more methodical. He could land at will.. and therefore brought excitement by fighting and delivering knockout performances.
His last few fights he has tightened up and slowed down his approach a considerable amount.Comment

Lacy is not even close to the level. Gamboa has speed, reflexes and great stamina. He takes his time when it's necessary to do so. I am not sure if you have seen his last two fights, but it's been a considerable improvement as far as him taking his time.Comment
