Cotto is still a great fighter, I don't wanna say he's another Chapo Rosario but that ain't too far from the truth either. He had all the tools to beat anyone in the game but his strategy was **** and so was his coaching. Now he swells up and cuts from just looking at him. I think he has matured but too late now, one year left and counting...

that's what paulie said and he also mentioned how cotto could have been one of the best fighters ever to come out of puerto rico if it wasn't for margarito cheating. i also ask myself the same thing, if he would have beat margarito and not took such a brutal beating he would possibly be #1 p4p fighter in the world. and if he had fought mayweather.. the fight everyone wanted to see, and manage to beat him.. he could have gone down as the greatest fighter of our generation.

so i ask you how great do you think he could have been?

        Cotto is indeed great.
        Cotto ducks no one.
        Cotto fights elite welterweight fighters.
Cotto has the right 2 be called p4p rather tha Floyd Duckweather..

The guy's still young and dangerous. In his current capacity I can't see him losing his future fights, 3-4 yrs. maybe.

He also had a great style that made me always think of him as a Puerto Rican Jake LaMotta. He would come in crouching like a bull using the jab and belting you to the body. He had great balance. He wasn't a quick fighter, but when he got warmed up he was a punching machine. Defensively, he moved just enough to nullify the damage, always staying close enough to return fire and win exchanges.

Also he always had great sportsmanship, was humble, **** ya gotta be a fan of the guy.
Exactly. He deserves all the respect.

I don`t think Cotto would have been all that.Loaded gloves or not he struggled against a Margarito who punches like he`s under water.Margarito may be the slowest fighter i`ve ever seen.

Cotto also almost got knocked out by Mosley,Go watch the fight again and you`ll see that the Puerto Rican ref saved Cotto from a knockout. He tried to claim the floor was wet.THAT WAS THE REF LOOKING OUT FOR HIS FELLOW PUERTO RICAN.And alot of people had that fight a draw.

Cotto also struggled with Clottey and it was a fight many people had a draw. And Cotto fought a Judah who confidence was gone as a result of all those losses.Had Judah let his hands go alot more i believe he would have knocked Cotto out.

And don`t even ask what Floyd would have done to him

Though I think he is a very very good fighter I am not convinced he had the ability to skills to carry him to what I consider greatness.....but who knows maybe he will bounce back do great things and prove me wrong.

I hope we see him again soon, he is a warrior and a throwback but was just missing a little bit in a few key areas which prevent him from greatness.

...I agree with most of this...he's a very good "technical" fighter that will fight anyone...but...he's not very "durable"...almost "fragile"...he's got the ability, but he's not "durable" enough to be considered an ATG...he's shown that he just can't take what he dishes out and that's been his down fall...Wlad can't take a beating, but he's smart enough to change his style to compensate for it...Cotto isn't and he will keep loosing until he can make the adjustment...
