damn bro i remember saying the same thing, my dad also said that. those first 6 rounds cotto looked amazing and i thought that margarito would be easy pickings after that..

Cotto could have been great. The best Cotto I ever witnessed was the first few rounds during the Margarito fight. He was so confident, in great shape and his skills were really out that night. Then Marg took over and broke him down but even during the fight turn around Cotto was still fighting back landing nice shots.

I think he cracked Margs chin that night and also took something away from him physically.

He was really a up and coming great who ran into a cheater imo. Had he beat Marg and not been cheated, he could have been pound for pound king. But thats life.

Hes not the same, his confidence is gone, his skills looks dimished, wheres the body shots? And losing his uncle as a trainer sealed any future hope.

Hes still good now but not the same Cotto.

A great fighter nevertheless, but with or without Margacheato handwraps, His punches didn't hurt Margacheato that much, IMO it seems like his punches were getting weaker in the later rounds, also evident in his fights against Clottey and Pac

I think if Cotto was in the ring that night with any other WW or challenger that night he would have beat anyone in his way. He looked unstoppable.

I think Cotto still has some fight in him left. Imo whats hurting him most is his Corner he needs his uncle back. If he keeps Santiago it would be a shame.

I was watching his fight against Clottey today again. I know the fight could of gone either way but I actually had it for Cotto by one point because of the knockdown. People focus way too much on how Clottey dominated some rounds and looked like the winner because he had no cuts And Cotto looked busted. But Cotto fought with one eye and still managed to win half of the fight imagine if he had both eyes.

Cotto is one of the best WWs of the last 10 years, and he has fought the best opposition available and not ducked anyone.

Though I think he is a very very good fighter I am not convinced he had the ability to skills to carry him to what I consider greatness.....but who knows maybe he will bounce back do great things and prove me wrong.

I hope we see him again soon, he is a warrior and a throwback but was just missing a little bit in a few key areas which prevent him from greatness.

Cotto is great. I want to see him beat Yuri at 154 for his 3rd weightclass belt, then either take whatever big fight pops up, or retire. His body of work is solid as hell.

Margarito took the best of Cotto though, and I agree, first 6 rounds vs Margarito were damn special, that was some beautiful stuff.

We will probably never know if Margarito did break the rules that night, but I'm sort of incliend to think he did, and now I think more about it, **** him, Cotto was on the verge of true greatness before that loss.

ONe of my all time favorites hands down. ANd it is a shame if his career was set back because of the margarito scandal. I rerember the the night of the gomez fight when margs stoped cintron on a body shot and it was like cotto was like alright i'll show u i can do the same damn thing antonio. I was so amped up for that fight more then the pac fight. After that fight I was just amazed in both fighters, both guts and determination, but someone wasn't playing on a level field. It's a shame because I rerember the f'n plan for top rank when they had mayweather still was for cotto and mayweather to fight. I still say cotto's best fight was the mosley fight. Miguel Cotto could have been a very special fighter, but he will never be forgotten because of all the wars and his mentality to fight anyone anywhere and his shear humbleness inside and outside of the ring. If this is the last year of his career, we as boxing fans should support his last two fights and enjoy them because there hasn't been more of a warrior and embassador of the sport then miguel junito cotto. Thanks champ and I'll be there in June when you destroy Yuri Foreman
