with hatton, he always packs on weight between fights and has to drain himself, floyd and pac were just better, with tarver its his own damn fault, roy is the only one the can really have a legit gripe about weight, and that is a little weak, his reflexes were what he got by on, when they slowed down on him he was catchable, he fouht at heavyweight 1 time and jus got strectched out a month ago

its the truth...and it becomes more truthful when i remind people that after trinidad, jones told nard "60-40" i'll kick your ass, and hopkins went on and fought robert allen for the 9th time, and some scrubs you'll never hear from again...that is, until taylor punked him for his titles and kicked him out of 160...

robert allen was made his mandatory fight again after working his way up to the #1 spot, hopkins protested it and didn't want to fight him again but he would have been stripped a belt.

So nice of you to leave that part out.

And a big LOL at your previous post. You're a complete moron. 1-4??? So he didn't go undefeated at 160 for 10+ years including glen johnson, etc.? lol in your mind he was a light heavyweight back in the mid 90's? You're a fool. You can weight drain yourself for 15 years.

At 135 he was dropped by journeymen from the UK. Gomez was alright and so what that other guy, but they came from 130 at their best...

lol...excuses...after trinidad, he could have moved up to 175 and fought jones....f**k robert allen in a mandatory..., but we all know why that didn't happen at this point...

do you read ******? every fight in which he was fighting an equally sized/equally talented fighter, he lost to jones, calzaghe, taylor 2X, and his first fight...so thats actually five losses to fighters his size with equal talent...the one time he won, he was fighting an unfocused, part-time movie actor...just face it, hopkins is a fighter who always has to grossly outsize his opponents to win....and why was he not a lightheavy in the 90's?...his first fight was @ 175....man idiots like you should be isolated from the rest of society man...you may contaminate us with your idiocy

Everyone he fuucking fought at 160 was equal in size besides Oscar and Tito, those are the only two guys that came from smaller weight classes (even though they both had previous fights at 160).

grossly outsize his opponents to win.
Yeah because he grossly outsizes tarver and glen johnson right? Oh it was a huge conspiracy against Tarver - Bhop paid of Rocky to hire him as the villain and to get him fat, then lose the weight. ALL PART OF BHOPS MASTER PLAN!!! I'm sure he planned that for YEARS.

And then you say of equal talent. He beat everyone, no one was as equally as talented as him besides probably Roy Jones. By the time he started losing he was 40 years old against taylor and 43 against Clazaghe. And both of those guys he was the more talented fighter, he lost against both of those guys because the judges didn't like his low output of punches. Even calzaghe stans agree that if hopkins would have thrown more punches in the final rounds he would have/could have won. But again, he's 43 at that point. So your entire post is once again completely ******ed. Thanks for wasting my time.

Hopkins turned pro in 1988 fresh out of prison. He was not in boxing shape, which is why he took 2 years off after with a new trainer, etc.

                    Jesus christ you're an idiot.
You are a good poster, but that statement by Hopkins clearly showed that he struggled to make 160. Hopkins looked great at 175 and at 160 he looked toned but quite thin.

Hopkins learnt the trade and became a great fighter and is still damn good today, but he did have his fair share of smaller guys. That being said, Oscar and Tito were good money fights and ofcourse he wanted it.

On the other hand, if you make weight then you make it. The ruels state he can fight whoever.

The quote came from when hopkins was 40-41 years old. It was known that the last year or two of his 160 reign was beginning to get difficult for him to make weight. However, djfucktard over here is acting like the quote was from 1991 and hopkins has been struggling to make weight ever since, which simply isn't the case at all. Hopkins regularly came in at 158, 157, 156 pounds. That wouldn't be possible for a guy struggling to make weight so badly.
