    Just a Q.
Not as i can recall but i think i heard lampley say Floyd might be the greatest fighters since leonard which of course is bull****, that would be Roy.

Is Pacquiao better than Duran, SRR, Armstrong, Hagler, Chavez, SRL, and Ali?

I like Floyd and give him props for being a great and smart boxer. I still rank Pacquiao a few spots ahead of him. Floyd can easily go in the top 20, if he beats Mosley and Pacquiao.

Everybody has his own opinion so just respect it. By calling Steward a ******* is outrageous.
That's my point... everyone has an opinion, but their opinion doesn't mean he or she is always right.

      • he used to say Pac will not beat EM & MAB, He doubt him when he takes DLH. How many times he doubted Pac?? A lot.... & what Pac has done was more impressive than the real nuthuggerss like me ever imagined.

He got Pac at #5 ATG but these nuthugger have Pac at #3 ATG now. He's not far off.

I'm just confused.
Floyd is my favorite boxer, but I also like Manny and give Manny his props. I'm not hating on Manny, or trying to discredit anything he's done in boxing like some Floyd fans.

How can someone say Manny is top 5 when you can list at least 5 boxers who a better than him at the top of your head? How can a boxer be in the top 5 when his career is not over? What if Manny loses to Mayweather?

That's like me saying Kobe Bryant is the greatest of all time before his career is over. Kobe will go down as a top 3 player of all time, but it's crazy to even put him in the top 5 right now before his career is over. A lot of "experts" have said Kobe is the greatest basketball player of all time. I'm a Laker fan and a Kobe Bryant, but I don't agree with them.

Hmmmm I don't think this is even a contest and just because you can name every opponent Joe Louis ever had doesn't qualify you as anything other than a know it all.
And I wouldn't claim that I have a better fundamental knowledge of the sport than Emmanuel Steward but I do understand the history of the sport, not only on the level of knowing Joe Louis's opponents but the whole depth of it. 120 years is a long time and it includes a lot of men who took up the sport and to claim that you're the 5th best ever in all of that time is quite a compliment, a compliment I wouldn't quite yet hand out to Manny Pacquiao despite all his achievements. Fights such as Pacquiao vs Mayweather are the ones that give you the right to be called one of the best of all time. He would prove, without question, that he is the best of his era, something that the likes of Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb, Ezzard Charles, Ray Leonard proved, several times.

Manny Steward having more credibility than anyone on this forum doesn't necessarily prove that he's right, although in this case I guess there's really no right or wrong. You can rate a fighter however you want to and a man like Manny Steward certainly has a right to his opinion. But this doesn't mean everyone has to agree with it. I don't, and many other credible people don't. People just as credible as Steward.

                • Let's be honest here, if this was Roger Mayweather saying it about his nephew, most people would laugh it off. But Roger's a two-time world champion and a top class trainer isn't he? And I could probably dig up statements of Emmanuel Steward's, most recently about Andy Lee and Kermit Cintron, that are just as ridiculous as anything you'd ever hear from the mouth of Roger Mayweather (although admittedly with much greater frequency from Roger).

It's certainly a huge compliment for Pacquiao coming from Manny Steward but let's not use this as an argument about Pacquiao being top 5 ATG. Ray Arcel thought Jack Dempsey was the best ever, Eddie Futch thought Charley Burley was the best ever, Angelo Dundee thought Muhammad Ali was the best ever, it's just their opinions, not fact.

I don't really believe in ATG lists but I would rate him fairly highly depending on how he does for the rest of his career. He has the possibility of achieving something big with wins over Pacquiao and some other top welterweights who are out there.

Right now I don't think his "resume" is as strong as his skills would suggest. Wins over De La Hoya, Hatton, Corrales, Castillo surely prove that he is a level above most fighters today but he hasn't truly had a career-defining win yet. Skill-wise he's up there but as far as the names he has beaten, well I could probably come up with a decent-sized list of names that are comparable if not better in that regard.

                    • if Roger M said that about PBF, then he is clearly going to appear biased.....

BUT this is Steward....he is black, not manny's trainer and a reputable boxing trainer.....

dundee trained ali--------Steward did not trained Manny

Im a Pac fan but i dont agree with Steward....Pac surely is top 25 at least not top 5 in my opinion although he is the best southpaw of all time though....

but that is my own opinion
