It is widely known that Khan has a terrible chin. Why not pick and choose soft punchers? He will lose his world champion status in the process, so the only person that loses out is Khan. It's not like he is holding onto a belt Calzaghe style and only fighting chumps, while still being recognised as a world champion.

If he doesn't fight Maidana he will be stripped. That will leave him free to explore other avenues like Mallignaggi, Hatton, Mayweather, and Marquez. He can then cash out of the sport.

No but Khan makes 10 - 15m fighting Mayweather. Khan will be lucky to get 500k from HBO for fighting Maidana. Plus due to time differences, there will be very few Britsh ppv buys. It's a risk vs reward business. Why risk fighting Maidana for 500k, when he could fight much bigger names like Hatton or Marquez and make millions? Or Mallignaggi, and make an easy paycheck and then go onto bigger fights?

In reality there is very little reason for Khan to fight Maidana. He won't recieve any respect or recognition, and belts are merely meaningless tokens these days.

The only reason people want Khan to fight Maidana is because they hate him and want to see him get knocked out.

So you are essentially saying, why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

If this is the case, don't come on in the future and complain that Khan gets no respect.

This is the reason why the arsehole has fallen out of boxing.

Khan will never get any respect no matter what he does. So he might as well do it the easy way.

The arsehole fell out of boxing when the fans decreed that a young, talented boxer was a worthless, piece of ****, because he was viciously knocked out.

99% of the boxing community laughed at Amir Khan that day. A young kid who just had his brain pulverised. And the only reason the want to see him fight Maidana is to laugh at him when he hits the canvas again. I would rather not see that happen. I want to watch a fight based on glory and respect, rather than a chance to laugh at a young mans downfall.

This would have been a good fight

they just need to go ahead and make a tourney at 140, there are too many good young fighters in that division

That's just a piss poor attitude to have, frankly. You honestly believe that if, hypothetically, Khan wiped everyone at 140, he'd get no respect?
