For those who want the sport to be cleaned up so bad,

I don't doubt there are posters on here motivated by the love of Floyd. Just like those who defend Pacquiao to no end. But either way, it doesn't take away from the issue at hand. And that, more than anything, should be what we focus on.Comment

Well for the sake of identification, I'd rather not prove. Flame all you want, I care not. But it's a topic of great interest to me - and has been for years. And I've written about it, done interviews, asked questions, probed, you name it.

is that a large majority of boxing fans didn't care until three weeks ago about the drug testing standards. They didn't care as other boxers were getting caught. They didn't care when other boxers were getting exposed. They didn't care in the past decade when the issue was huge in other sports.
But now,
its suddenly a huge deal,
because of speculation with no evidence?
I find that hard to believe. The majority of this "standard testing not good enough talk", is coming from one segment of the boxing community at large.
Floyd Mayweather fans.
The same fans who tried to justify Floyd not fighting Margarito, Cotto, Shane, or any other welterweight who creates a great stylistic matchup.
I don't have a problem with standards being implemented sportwide,
but I do have a problem with people who say they truly care about the issue and always have,
when in fact, they didn't until just recently.Comment

Second, the "standard testing not being good enough" has been touted by many. Over years. Maybe YOU just started reading about that lately. But you know what? That's how it's supposed to be. That's how issues get raised.Comment

I'm curious as to where this sudden demand for stricter testing came from.
So, I ask these questions,
Why not after any of Shane Mosleys fights after DLH? 2003
Why not James Toneys fights after Ruiz? 2005
Why not Fernando Vargas fights after DLH? 2002
Why not Roy Jones fights after Hall? 2000
If you're so adamant about stricter testing standards,
why wait so long and overlook the other guys who actually got caught?
also there was not a big demand for test in all sports not just boxing as it is now. alot of fans want better test and some fans just dont care.Last edited by VERSION1 (V1); 01-06-2010, 12:53 PM.Comment

I don't think that's the issue. I don't think Mayweather and Pacquiao went to see a mediator because of what people on a message board are saying.

Homeboy, this is my thread, my issue.
I'm calling these fans out.
Not a single one can prove otherwise.
Now, since you're such a writer, link me to some articles or get off the pot. You've done the research, you've done the interviews.
Shoot your shot.
btw, I've read tons throughout the years.
and the issue has never been bigger than a sewing needle hole.
Ever.
This whole entire issue got raised by the father of another fighter.
Never, ever was a word about Pacquiao and PEDs ever muttered because never, ever was a Manny/Floyd talked about as much as it is now.
As I said before, its always an excuse about why Floyd shouldn't fight this guy or that guy,
and its the same people today who are clamoring for this testing, when they never, ever cared about it before, who were the same people yesteryear giving reason after reason as to why Floyd shouldn't have to fight another prime welterweight contender.
These people never cared about it.
If they, they'd be able to easily bring up the posts and threads.Comment

Its pointless because you can't do what you're asking another man to do.
"Prove it".
We're both on the internet, the "information superhighway".
Surely you can link me to past articles.
But you're a Floyd fan, so I can see where you're coming from.Comment
