The topic starter is at least a little more reasonable than most Calzaghe fans.

but lets be honest here Hopkins WAS past his prime (no one at 43 is in their prime it's just the way life works) and Joe beat him very narrowely, after Taylor did it twice (all 3 very close losses).

    Hopkins is older than Tyson.

If it makes people feel better I will gladly accept a prime 35 Hopkins dismantles him. That doesn't take away from the skills Calzaghe had.

It's like saying because Superman or the Hulk kicks your ass you're a wimp :S

you don't have to alter your stance because of excuse making nard ******s....nard loses, and the nard ******s make up unfathomable excuses...he's old, the man held him down, etc...he wins and he'd the greatest thing since sliced bread...joe beat him decisively and nard lost bad...nuff said

I agree, Calzaghe is underrated but his resume ain't nothing to be proud of. I'd pick Calzaghe to beat everyone in the Super 6, Cloud and Chad but that ain't gonna happen. If Calzaghe don't have the drive anymore, I don't blame him. It's sad that someone that good doesn't have much of a resume.

I didn't see Calzaghe control anything. Just threw as much as he could and was awarded the W based on workrate.

He was in control enough to force Hopkins to back up into the ropes for the entire fight after the 3rd round.

Now where is Daggum aka Jeff Lacy so he can school me on what a bum Joe is?

Calzaghe won it clearly. Hopkins fans sure changed their tune about Hopkins being past prime when he beat Pavlik. Double standards.

Hopkins would never beat Calzaghe. Calzaghe's too good and too fast.

I don't think Calzaghe beats Chad. I personally don't think Calz beats any current prime fighter with good footwork.
