cloud has been prone to long periods of inactivity. im pretty sure in saying that he has had up to a year off before and as far as i know it wasn't due to injury or promoter problems neither.

imo his team, his promoter and his coach need to keep him busy if they're serious about him becoming the next big thing. he can't expect to just get in the ring against a b-hop or a dawson and just switch it on. he needs to be fighting regularly, he needs to be developing his craft, honing his skills and his team need to make sure that he is being given the right match ups to bring him along.

imo a fight with dawson or pascal would come too quickly for him right now but maybe he should take a few fights with people in the top 10, then take on johnson/mack, then maybe take on diaconu. after that we'll have a better idea of where he is and how he compares to the big players in the division.

Cloud's best win is a decision over a shot Clinton Woods. That tells you everything.

Nobody just gets a title shot out of the clouds. He has to agree to purse splits and not whine about anything. He's a no name who is only known by hardcore boxing fans. If I mention him around casual fans they'd think i'm talking about a certain kind of cloud. Boxing is all about money nowadays. If you had a belt and a name at LHW with much bigger names(Pascal, Hopkins, Jones, Tarver, Johnson etc), would Tavoris Cloud be your first choice of opponent? Plus when you have no choice but to fight no name Cloud you know you can squeeze in 168 and take on a Lucian Bute in Canada for lots of $ or even join the Super 6 if Taylor happens to drop out?

Cloud wants Dawson but Dawson or no one wants him because their are bigger and better things out there. Harsh but true, he has to build his name up.

He is not with a good promoter. He can get TV dates. So instead of the promoter doing what a real promoter should do and that is get money out of his pocket and promote a internet PPV fight featuring Cloud. He would just rather sit out and let Cloud get rusty and old. While waiting for TV money.

That is why I don't understand why people hate on Top Rank. If they can get TV dates and TV money. Bob would go into his pocket and set up his own independent PPV. Like what a real promoter should do. But, the promoters nowadays wait for TV money and casino revenue. That is why you see so much fights in casino now. They pay better.

There's nobody out there interesting to fight for Dawson other than Cloud right now and vice versa. So this fight is a no brainer. Or is Dawson gonna sit on the couch and make no money at all? Nobody else wants to fight him. What you are saying about Cloud applies to Dawson too. Dawson only had like nine people go to his fight against Glen Johnson and his own spectators booed him. Dawson was a no namer when Adamek gave him his shot like I mentioned earlier and Woods and Gonzales are better fighters than Harding and Gardner. Me being disappointed in the way that Cloud's career is being mismanaged doesn't change the fact that Chad is dodging him.

I been telling Iceta this for awhile. That Cloud should be fighting Chris Henry and Shaun George. Those were solid LHWs were you could built momentum with. And, then if/when you beat the winner of Mach-Johnson. You would be more known. You would have more case. You would be ranked higher. You would have more experience and just be a better fighter. Cloud team totally mismanaged Cloud career. They have there priorities all wrong.

He's already beaten a guy who's better than Shaun George and Chris Henry. Those guys aren't even ranked in the top ten. They are top twenty fighters.

But, the are good top 10 fighters who are in there prime. We yet have seen Cloud against those type of fighters. And, especially with Henry style. A Cloud-Henry fight could be FOTY.

Yo Spray. They've got an interview with Cloud over on the 15 Rounds website. You should read it. I think you'll find it interesting. He explains why he turned down that undercard slot in November because he says Gary Shaw didn't promise him a shot at Dawson, and I think it may be true.

He should not be turning down fights at all at this point though for whatever reason. If there were any other fighters at 175 who ppl thought could beat Dawson would anyone even think Cloud deserves a shot at him even at this time? I wouldn't, I just want to see it because he is a legit threat, but money talks and he has to make himself more marketable by staying active and looking impressive.

Dawson is a no name himself so you're entire argument is invalid. Dawson has no fan base, which is why big names like Hopkins wont give him the time of day. Dawsons options at LHW are litterally Pascal and Cloud. That's it. If he wants to weight drain himself to 168 that's all fine and dandy, but a young guy like hismelf should unify the belts and create a name for himself, not chase big money fights so early. Do what bernard hopkins did - unify the belts, keep winning and eventually the big names come.

Further, Dawson at 168...what is he going to do? The super six guys are locked in place for at least another year and what makes you think Lucian Bute would fight dawson when he can take a couple easy fights and wait for the winner of the super six? Dawson cant land any of the big names at 168 right now, maybe in over a year he could but not anytime soon.
