I'm bored, so I totalled his prior oppositions' cuurent records

    Pre-Moorer: 142-222-17 (37.2% winning)

    With Moorer: 189-226-18 (43.6% winning)

Do you still think he was a legimate competitor for Wlad? If you honestly do, you must not think much of Wlad.

Like I've said before, I have no qualms with Wlad working his way up slowly. I just think that some of the serious nuthuggers on here are making it seem like the Second Coming of Christ. It's not.

Wlad easily handled an undersized, powerless, mediocrity.
      Kudos.

My boy Larry Merchant said it best at the end of the telecast...

We won't no what is up with Wlad until he isn't perfect...when he takes a couple shots too the chin and does not **** himself.

Who thinks when Wlad takes a good one on the chin that he won't **** himself?

        He'll **** himself

I have watched all of his fights he does the same thing, wlad beats mutha****as up, until they start fighting back...He has alwasy had a good jab and right hand, he just has a suspect chin...so what did I miss, and for your information, castillo has a brother who is now a heavyweight that used to be a cruiserweight...

i think its unfair that monte barret can fight someone as unproven as owen beck and that toney can do the same with booker and mccline with fighting boswell, but none of them catch the kinda flack that wlad catches for fighting castillo, a guy who at least beat moorer...

wlad needed a mediocre opponent to build confidence after that brewster disaster... he won and looked good doing so, he looked better than he did against TOS....

while he looked good, it was nothing to nut over, but also nothing to bash him for...

I think alot of what Castillo didn't do was a direct result of what Wlad did. Wlad only had a 1 inch reach advantage, but he has such a hard jab that Castillo never really tried to establish his own jab, and seemed to spend the rest of the fight trying to figure out what he was going to do. It's a little bit strange that the round he was stopped in was the round where he tried to do the most lol. I also think Wlad was maybe trying to dispell the stamina reputation, and that was a big part of the reason the fight lasted as long as it did. If he had blown Castillo out in the first round, there still would have been bashing, so why not at least get some rounds in? Not trying to give Wlad too much credit, but the way I see it, he looked as good as he could have, given the situation (opponent).

guru, Owen "Hit The Deck" Beck and Rydell "I Suck" Booker both had the same history of horrible opponents leading into their respective matches. I think the difference is that Toney and Barrett had both just come off of stunning upset wins over Jirov and Guinn respectively. Toney totally destroyed Holyfield (Yes, Holy looked old in the fight, I know), which had never been done before, and Barrett had a very close MD loss over Mesi, who was supposed to destroy him. Wlad can't claim a stunning upset WIN in the past few years, or even a good showing against someone considered to be a all-time great or real contender. He does, however, have 2 KO losses over people who were supposed to be warmups.

I don't think either of them, should they win a belt, will be able to hold onto it for very long, but they have both earned a shot. Wlad still has to earn that.

If Wlad continues to work the way he did in that fight, and defeats his stamina/chin problem, he will hold a belt for many years. At least he can say that much where the other 2 can't.

You missed the fact that jab, right hand, and nearly everything else good about him was missing in action against TOS.

True, but when you step back and take a look at those two wins now, neither of them look very impressive considering what Jirov and Guinn have been up to recently.
