What did you see in Wladimir in this fight? Personally, I think he is on his way to becoming the Wlad of three or four years ago. Before you start calling me delusional or any other crap, read carefully. I will say what I liked about his performance.
1. He showed patience and composure. Yes, I know that Castillo was absolutely afraid and frozen but still, Wladimir was trying to pace himself.
2. He looked more athletic overall if you compare this fight to his fights against Brewster and Williamson.
3. His left hand was getting the job done. The jab was constantly scoring, as well as the hook. The jab also kept Castillo confused and on the outside the whole four rounds.
4. His stance looked normal because he stood straight. If you check his fight with Brewster, you will see him fighting small. Well, I thought he looked like Quasimodo at times. His stance for his fight with Castillo was similar to his stance of old.
5. He was not trying that ****** holding technique that he tried against Brewster and that really made him look ridiculous. I mean he was clinching when he was dominating the bout. What? It was like clinching just to show that he could clinch.
All in all, I think this was the best he has looked since the loss to Corrie Sanders.
i defintiely agree, we can't judge his chin YET, but the way he fought would give a lot of HW's trouble
ruiz will be troubled, cuz the jab wouldn't let him clinch. i wana c how toney is on saturday b4 i decide if he belongs with the big boys. from what i've seen so far, he doesn't
u misunderstood me........i didn't mean that he dived in such a way, but rather that he went down and couldn't have been bothered getting up (which in my opinion, seemed that he was OK to continue).....
he showed no interest or hunger throughout the fight, and didn't bother getting back up..........i am sure you agree with me on this one!
My bad.
I understand what you meant now.
I aplogize if I came down on you hard, I was just frustrated with the usual plethora of Klitschko haters who ( as usual ) came out of the woodwork to sling their insults & post their latest conspiracy theories. I shouldn't have included you in amoungst that lot.
BTW, I have no idea who she is, but your's ,by FAR, is my favorite avatar!
Vlad is a talented fighter and a legit contender right now, he just needs to prove he can beat top competition before we assume he is actually BACK. Castillo didn't want any part of him and it showed. I'm curious to see if Vlad can pace himself and pick his shots as well against a more skilled fighter who comes straight at him.

good point, but the problem is that Vlad CAN'T beat quality competition, he will stomp bums and get KO'd by contenders, he's the new-age Gerry Cooney
I think that most Klitschko fans could agree that if he scored a split decision victory over the corpse of John L. Sullivan it would prove that he would be a hard opponent for any heavyweight, living or dead and deserved an immediate title shot with any current champ. This is why I listen to the fans no more than I listen to the haters.
Look at it from a more realistic perspective. Could he look as good as he did (and he did look good) against someone who was actually fighting him?
Perhaps, Castillo was only in defense mode, thats why Wlad worked with the jab and left hook for most of the time, because the straight right was reserved for an opening. If Castillo tried coming forward and fighting, he might've found himself knocked out much sooner than the 4th round. Everytime you attack you leave yourself open, and Wlad has a pin point right hand.
...and Castillo has the best win by far among the three.
Against an ex-champ whose prime was 8 years and 30 pounds ago. Not much of an endorsement, is it?
His opponents prior to Moorer had a combined record oh 100-130, or 43.4%. They had stunningly bad records including 1-19, 6-27, 15-20, 3-11. The one person he fought with a perfect 3-0 record is now 3-10.
I don't think that qualifies him for legitimacy, but that's just me.
If you want a good laugh, look at how his opponnts have fared since they fought him.

There are a lot of early KO's there, LOL. But either way, everyone was all over Jirov at heavyweight, he nearly beat Mesi and Toney and then get's KO'd by Moorer in Moorer's first fight after getting dominated by Castillo. And yes Jirov was winning the fight before Moorer KO'd him, but Castillo was doing much better than Jirov was up until he was KO'd. And yes it was only sparring, but Castillo was also easily outboxing McCline during their sparring session.
