no way, especially considering the division he is in
european level is the next step and i think taking it slow is a good idea, like i said world level in the WW division is a dangerous pool and one that a guy needs too be ready forComment

That's true, maybe in a different division it'd be a different story.Comment

The fight with Jennings is off (for the 3rd or 4th time). Brook was a big favourite to win though. He'll apparently be in a world title eliminator instead. I'm a fan of his so might go along as it's in my city. Gonna wait and see who they put him in against first.
He has talent, but his recent fights have ended early so it's difficult to know how much improvement he's made since the fight with Barrie Jones 18ish months ago, when I felt that he got hit a bit too much (but still put in a good performance).
I think he's the best British prospect out there, but so far he hasn't been seriously tested. He should be put in with a physically tough opponent who will take him 10 or 12 rounds as he hasn't been that distance yet.
He's had some injury problems, which is a concern. If not for them, he would've faced the two best opponents of his career in 2009. It's pretty frustrating as a fan because I was looking forward to seeing his career progress but instead it's stalled a bit.
I've seen the fight where he got knocked down, he wasn't badly hurt but it was a good shot and a legit KD.
I wouldn't say his style is that similar to Hamed, but there are similarities. He does rely on reflexes at times, and he does jump in with a single shot sometimes in the way Hamed often did. They come from the same gym as well.
He's not ready for world class yet, but with some good matchmaking he can make a name for himself in 2010 (Castillo, Judah, Gomez, Hlatswayo, Soto Karass, Jennings would all be good fights) and then win a belt in 2011 perhaps. 147 is a very tough division right now, but Pac, May, Shane and Cotto might not be around in a years time.Comment

ye but im glad he is a WW too be honest
i think he can reach world level and that will mean some big fights, exciting fights win or lose
id rather have him challenge a really good fighter and give 100 % in a losing effort than pick up some vacant strap against an average opponentComment

Agree with most of this. I dont think his style resembles Hamed's much but i know a lot of other people like to make the comparison.
As much as i hate to say it i think James De Gale is the best prospect in Britain. Granted he has not fought anyone yet, but i mean just on skillet and potential.
After Amir Khan of coarse.Last edited by Dynamite Kid; 12-22-2009, 09:21 AM.Comment

Gomez would be a nice matchup. Tough guy but not crazy good, and definitely beatable.
