That's what I figured. He looks like a career WW to me.

Having said that about De Gale he had that when he fought Tchalia, what ever his name is, and he did not show enough.

Maybe De Gale needs someone who is really gonna get on his ass so its forced outta him.

a good fighter who is currently at the euro/domestic level and imo he could be on the world stage in a few years (bearing in mind the right match ups are made and hes moved along at the right pace etc). however some people have jumped on the bandwagon and say that he is a guranteed future world title-holder.

his style is one that is easy on the eye, offensively he has sound technique and has shown versatility in his punching. he has very good power in both hands and his timing and ability to land hurtful punches means that he is a threat for any fighter. sometimes he does have a lazy look to him but imo thats because he thinks before he throws. he does have the ability for the spectacular hence the comparisons with naz.

defensively he hasn't really been tested, hes yet to face a fighter who can be equally adept at landing there own punches and testing his body and chin. its a shame the fight jennings fell through because that would have been a very good gauge for how far he has come and how far he will go.

imo cleverly is a slightly better prospect.

that may well be another problem

eubank touched on it a while back, saying these guys do well in the olympics and then get ridiculous contracts offered too them instead of having too come up the hard way,and that in the long run it can go too their heads and they take things for granted, this could also be something too do with it

i think warren needs too find a few guys with that style for degale too fight
it will give him expierience fighting his type of fight using his style, which i think is essential for a prospect coming up

I love watching Booth and Napa. Napa would be world class if he was a little taller and had some pop. Booth probably the same as far as power goes.

Call me crazy but i think Simpson has got got better and im thinking maybe he could do something at world level against the right opponent, its not that he is just a brawler, he also knows how to counter when he is applying pressure. The mofo goes like train when he gets in a rythm.

ye napa cant break an egg and booth isnt much better, both very skilled pure boxers as they say

simpson has improved a lot,i cant imagine guys queing up to fight him however good they are,he isnt one-dimensional like you say,but if the fight turns into a scrap, its going too take a lot to beat him

                Thats a good post.

I think his timing might be his biggest asset. I know it was only Barrie Jones but he hit Jones with a few counter right hands that were world class shots. The punch that took Mcyintre, what ever his name is, out was an example of his excellent timing.

                  Agree.

Simpson might have trouble if he fought a world class puncher, but he would be a handful for most people the intensity he brings.

I asked DK a similar question the other day.

I watched a little of him and thought he looked good, given the opposition he faced. He looks like he has a nice jab and pretty good timing and countering ability. His balance seems to be good, as I didn't notice him over reach or lunge.

However, I only watched about ten minutes so perhaps I need to see more. Also, he was defending his British title against domestic level fighters who really had no chance of beating him. We'll find out more about him once he steps up in opposition.

I don't think anyone has exaggerated how good he is because no-one knows yet. He is very much a prospect but with huge potential. He has handled every (domestic level) step up with ease, but the world scene is still a way off.

The only comparison with him and Naz is the Sheffield connection and the fact that they are both friends. Stylistically they are not similar at all, IMO.
