Why is Dawson waiting so long to get back in the ring?

I just don't know why Dawson is waiting so long to get back in the ring. It's a legit question. From what I understand he just refused to have Cloud fight on the undercard of his next fight. Why is that?

understandable and Chad had the April date on HBO, but what if there's no one to fight?

I've heard all the talk of Chad fighting @ 168, but im not a believer, I'll believe Dawson at Super Middle when I see it

you said already Dawson can't draw well, which has been proven in the past

so why would HBO pick up a Bute-Dawson or Dawson vs another Super Middle when Chad has trouble selling?

basically what options other then waiting on Pascal does HBO+ Dawson have?

and im not buying this Chad at Super Middle business because I feel it's more talk.

Bute-Dawson seems bigger on paper in actuality, as it'll probably only sell well in Canada.

Dawson not wanting Cloud to fight on his next undercard is mentioned in the story about that press release from Cloud that was on every boxing web site. Don't you think that's a good way to build up a fight? It seems like he's just afraid of the guy. No other way you can put it. And Cloud shouldn't wait until the Johnson-Mack fight is done to get back in the ring again.

Dawson is more in a position to not fight for 8 months anyway compared to Cloud not fighting for a year. Dawson is the established man at 175, and if Cloud wants the fight with him he has to make it lucrative. He does that by being active and beating the breaks off of good opponents so ppl take more of an interest and don't just forget about him. If he is fresh in ppls minds and they want to see him fight he will be what they call a draw. Right now no one outside of hardcore fans knows who he is so hbo is not interested, its Cloud's fault more than anyones that he isn't fighting Dawson.

I think both situations suck.

I agree that Cloud deserves the same criticism. But I'm gonna wait to see what happens when the TV dates open up before I criticize him any further than I and other people have. There's really nobody good for him to fight if Dawson isn't going to give him a shot because 175 is a waste land right now. This fight makes sense on so many levels and Cloud is healthy and ready to fight. What's Dawson's excuse for not fighting him? It's bull****.

yeah agreed on that, the fans are the ones losing at this point.

and to make matters worse on top of the lack of depth at 175 nobody outside of B-Hop is very marketable.

meaning even if Cloud-Dawson is the best fight to make, it might not make the most financial sense, and that could play a factor into why it has not happened

IMO if Cloud and Chad keep winning the lack of depth at 175 will play a factor and eventually they'll have to fight

but it is kind of amazing how shallow 175 is compared to the other divisions in boxing

as Pascal, Dawson, B-Hop Johnson and Cloud are more or less the only Elite or so called

The thing with Cloud is though we haven't heard him flat out say that he's taking a whole eight months away from the ring like Dawson has. That's why I'm not using this thread to criticize Cloud that much.

I don't understand why Dawson is criticized. Tarver had a rematch clause in the contract and the fans all knocked Dawson for not giving Johnson a rematch so he gave him that rematch and now there trying to set up a fight with Jean Pascal, who I believe is more proven than Cloud.

A lot of people view me as a big grouchy **** with as much as I've bashed Pavlik and Juan Ma today and Berto a little bit yesterday. But now it's Dawson's turn to get it. He's gonna take a full eight months away from the ring on a guy who may not even be healed all the way by then. That's ******. At least fight Cloud or try to get Bute to move up or go down to 168 and fight him like you always talk about when it comes to the super six. Are Chad's options that limited? It seems like HBO is giving this cat a free ride.

HBO needs to tear up Dawsons contract he is a joke, they should give it to Pascal ot Adamek, real fighters.

because keeping in mind that every fighter needs a couple (2-3) months off between fights **unless fighting tomato cans

and lets not forget Chad did fight just one month ago.

so Chad didn't fight in December ... January is locked up on HBO with Juanma + the Berto-Mosley bout. so HBO had a tentative return date of April for Dawson .. which at that point if he fought in April it would have been a 4 month layoff.

granted the Pascal situation could turn out worse if that bout gets delayed due to injury

but we're talking about Dawson coming back on 5 month layoff in April (not happening)

vs 7 month inactivity in fighting Pascal in June

cuz I know this didn't come up before, but fighters have to take time off, and Dawson fighting in January or Feb just isn't realistic

plus with Pac/Mayweather in March

you have to take into consideration fighters needing time to rest/recover

and if the June fight with Pascal comes through it isn't even 8 months off for Dawson.

I mean your holding the fact that Dawson isn't fighting in December or Jan against him to build up this "8 month inactivity" which doesn't really add up to 8 months because Chad as of yet isn't fighting in July.

is it Dawson's fault HBO had his fight date originally scheduled for April?
