Although miguel was in terrific shape, he did have to starve himself to make 145. Literally...starve himself. Thats kinda f'd up, and ultimately, there is a reason they wanted cotto at 145, and not 147, those pounds make a difference on a guy who already is cutting alot of weight.

This thread is so funny. If it wasn't an issue they wouldn't ask for him to do it. geez.
They are the experts and they felt as though making Cotto fight at 145 was to their benefit. You are not an expert and you're saying that it was not to their benefit.
Makes no sense.

The problem was that there was a limit on the fight and Cotto has little body fat -- one pound isn't easy -- Cotto wasn't focused on training to beat Pac, he has said himself he didn't even like boxing anymore at that point, he was mostly focused on not being over the 145 limit -- could have lost millions for weighting over the limit -- usually he had to be at 147 so he could afford not to worry himself and rehydrate normally -- he had no trainer -- the Cheato deamon in his head -- TOO MANY PHYSICAL EVEN PSYCHOLOGICAL DISADVANTAGES FOR A REALLY 100% FAIR FIGHT --

Roach said in the lead up to the fight that they'd "Beat Cotto at any weight"
then why fight Cotto @ a catchweight of 145 if you can "beat him at any weight"

Cotto had to be in great shpe to make 146-147. When you are in great shape as it is, its even harder to lose that extra 1-2lb without sacrificng something. Somethings gotta go. How many times had he weighed in at 145 when he was a WW?

it's as simple as cutting out a few portions of a meal
are you really telling me cotto would kill himself to make 146? so to make 146 he is eating like a meal a day? wouldn't he just come in at 147 and maybe add another little meal? you really think he kills himself to make it 1lb below the limit? really?
