Even if their defenses are even (and I still say Whitaker's was better), Pernell was MUCH more effective offensively than Mayweather. Unlike Floyd, Whitaker had a pretty high work rate.

Oh Dom....ok we will agree to disagree... IMO I think you overrating Floyd a lil bit and underrating Whitaker defense a lil bit.

Pernell has been hit Jro. The guy has been dropped atleast 11-12 times his whole career, I know alot of that was more due to showboating. I have most of Pernell's stuff in my HD. The Pernell and Mayweather debate can get frustrating because these are 2 of my favorite defensive boxers.

IMO Whitaker never lost a fight until Trinidad. Maybe Rivera it was close...

But, that is why IMO Whitaker defense was better cuz he proved it by really schooling the best of his era...

And Whitaker was a washed up crackhead when he fought Tito. In his prime, Trinidad doesn't come close to beating Pernell.

If I may add, it wasn't plaster. It was the way that Trinidad's hands were wrapped.

The method they used to wrap his hands did give him more power. It wasn't legal in some places, such as New York.
