I think he is insecure because of the way he tries to deflect the attention off other fighters that would be dangerous fights. Part of the reason is that he feels disrespected but he has to realize if you are going to be the bad guy people aren't going to give you the same respect. If Mayweather beats Pacquaio you can bet your house that a lot of the hate goes away. Sure, there will be some haters saying Pacquaio was a small guy but real boxing fans will give him props. Till he beats Pac or a good welter he won't get the respect. Being the best super featherweight of all time was a decade ago, brah.

and imo he wasnt hated solely because of his race(although, of course, that was unfairly a big reason why people disliked him). he was also hated because he was a jackass a lot of the time.

you guys do know that he wasnt the first ever black boxing champion, right? Unless Im mistaken, the first african american boxing champion was Joe Gans. (who, incidently, was a much more skilled fighter than Jack Johnson).
