I agree that all three fighters weren't managed in the best way, with Taylor's career being the best example of a horribly managed fighter. I know the strive for greatness is a good thing, but take a look at Leonard for example: Dude fought the best of his era including some dynamite punchers. The difference is he didn't fight them back to back; he fought some relatively easy fights in between (Lalonde, Howard etc.) and look at him now dude is looking great. Meanwhile Taylor and Vargas are slurring their words at age 30, makes me sad.

the problem with the tito fight wasn't that he fought tito but that his corner (and the ref to an extent) didn't stop the fight when it was obvious he had no chance of winning. Tito was just teeing off on him like a ragdoll, and vargas was about as coherent as brad pitt in snatch. The ref was barking at him and he had the most obvious delayed reaction. He took way too much unnecessary damage at the end. After that kind of brutal beatdown, it was no surprise he had zero punch resistance in his future fights.

well boxing is a sport that people get hurt alot.

You could still hear James Toney and Roger Mayweather drunk accent. It stays with them for long time.

I think you better choose the fight which gains the most money because at the end of the day no fans is going to think a **** about you after couple of year of retirment. Just ask the G-Man.

With Vargas and Cotto, I think it's just a case of the ring wars catching up to both fighters. They were both championship-level fighters at a young age, and you can't knock them or their promoters for taking good, exciting fights.

With Taylor, I think he was a guy who was pushed too fast by HBO because he had star power. He wasn't ready for Hopkins even though he was gifted a win in both fights. He was gifted a draw against Wright. He had everything handed to him his entire career.

Either way I think it shortened their career a longggggggggg wayy.

Vargas was done at 28 years old.

            Taylor is done at 30.

            Cotto is done at 29.

I think theyre careers were handled poorly....To all you blood thirsty closet MMA fans..who are going to come in here and say "well they gave us wars"...Look save it..fact is these guys were making millions and now they are knockouts waiting to happen.

I dont think Vargas fighting Tito, Winky, and Oscar before he hit 28 was a smart idea.....

I dont think Cotto...fighting Judah....Mosley and Margario.back to back like that was a good idea...considering they all hit like bricks and Cottos chin situation.

And what the **** was Taylor thinking.....Pavlik( twice)....Froch and King arthur..I mean seriosuly.

These guys careers were managed poorly.....

            Hopkins is 46........

            JMM is 36.......

            Calzaghe is 37.......

            Shane is 38.........

I'm probably the only person who disagrees with the whole shot theory. I actually want to discuss this on horus show because I want to hear live feedback.

You gotta remember that those guy like LaMotta, Dempsey etc all took worse beating than these guys, fought more frequently, used lighter gloves, went 15 rounds, and a went through a whole lot more physically demanding stuff than guys today.

Guys I considers shot are Rid**** Bowe etc...guys who are just mental damaged and slurring and ****. All those guys mentioned above just either lost the desire to be great, stop working hard, or just refused to dig down and make the necessary adjustments it takes to correct the reason why they got knocked out.

Again I can go on and on but Ima call in one day and discuss this.

They wanted to fight the best and felt they could beat all of them. There's nothing wrong with that. Not every boxer is gonna have a long career. Let's be thankful for the fights they gave us and not criticize them.

Did their promoters/managers manage their fighters career right??

Arum is the worse........hes all about a dollar.

He fed Cotto to the wolves.

Hes doing Pac the same way by outting him in there with Floyd.
How is Arum the worse? He also built the careers of Oscar and Floyd and countless others that you failed to mention just to attempt to make your point.

Arum has promoted more champions and made more fighters money than any other promoter in recent history.

Vargas was rushed into the Trinidad fight because his promotor and team thought if they didn't get him in the ring then, that he would wind up in jail later down the road.. they took a gamble and he lost. Luckily seems like the life he had outside the ropes has calmed down as well

the issue is stamina and chins. jmm, hopkins, calzaghe and shane are very fit and can recouperate fast or take shots. they most have taken big shots
