I've heard him say clearly in the last few days that he wants to fight Maidana. But I've heard Roach and Warren both say they don't want the fight yet and that they won't let it happen. So they seem to disagree with you.

No it doesnt. I was just pointing out that Maidana was beaten by Kotelnik who Khan shut out. It doesnt mean neccesarily that Khan beats Maidana, it just shows how ordinary a fighter Maidana actually is

Rubbish. It shows that styles make fights. That's like saying Ali was ordinary because he lost to Norton. (And before you claim I'm comparing Maidana with Ali, give it a break, I'm using an analogy to illustrate a principle).

not sure if khan is ducking him or not,hes ready to fight whoever,weather he wins or not we will only find out in the future,roach wont be able to train him for the fight because he will be getting manny ready 4 the biggest of his career,so he might get pushed into vacating the belt,without roach training him he wont beat maidana

You make a great point about the timing being wrong for Roach. They do at least deserve an extension. Khan shouldn't be forced to fight him in March, when he's just fought a mandatory, and when Pac is having a 12 week training camp leading up to March. As you say, Roach wouldn't be able to train him properly for a March fight. That's clearly unfair. They should appeal against it and ask for an extension. But Khan still needs to fight Maidana or he'll rightly lose all credibility with most real boxing fans. Just not in March.

Some of the same people who are calling out Ortiz for quitting against Maidana are actually saying that Khan should duck Maidana and to give Khan a break he's just a kid, was knocked out not too long ago, yada yada yada...

So it makes "good business" sense to avoid a potentially dangerous fight (Khan should win against Maidana, btw, if he boxes), but it's ***** this, coward that for "quitting" when you're receiving massive blows to the head? Isn't living to fight another day good business sense?

So what's worse, ducking or quitting? At least with one of these, you actually stepped into the ring.

NOTE: I realize this is just rumors at this point, Khan may still fight Maidana... I hope so.

Nothing has been confirmed yet. But if Khan fights a better fighter, how can he be ducking an ordinary fighter like Maidana? Which I see you have agreed with in your last sentence.....

Maidana is an all out slugger with hardly any boxing skills, so if Khan schools him then he won't get the credit(Hence it's a high risk, low reward fight).

What rubbish. Most fans know that Khan can beat decent boxers (hence his easy win against Kotelnik) but doubt his ability to beat big punchers. Maidana is far better than Prescott, and it's only a year since that loss. And Maidana is coming off a fight of the year candidate in which he destroyed the most hyped prospect in America, so he's extremely well known in the States, and the fight would sell very well indeed. The excuse that it's low reward fight simply doesn't wash. And to claim he wouldn't get any credit for proving he can beat a big puncher is just ridiculous. His only major weakness is his glass chin, and he would lose all respect from all real boxing fans if he ducks this fight.

i wouldn't want khan fighting someone like maidana without roach's full attention during camp and in his corner . Vitali was ordered by the wbc to fight two mandatories in a row but had the decision overturned , khan's team should press for an extension , the fight definitely must be made sometime later in 2010 or like you've said his credibilty goes down the tube.

I think Khan will shut him out and not let Maidana's erratic punching get through to him, he will stay behind his jab and use his speed to get his combinations is, he'll stick and run but do it in a non-p*ssyfied way - it'll be an entertaining fight.

exactly , some fighters are great with boxers but not with big punchers , maidana would be a real acid test for khan and i look forward to it .
