Because Sergio Martinez is a great fighter. Clearly slick southpaws give Paul trouble, as seen with Quintana.

Paul Williams is gonna have to beat Martinez in a rematch very convincingly just like against Quintana. Then the hype will be back.

Because Martinez is that good. It wasn't to do with how bad Paul was..

He looked a bit amatureish as times alrite and maybe even uncoordinated. Correct me if im wrong but he only landed 45 more punches than martinez and as someone pointed out a fair few of those jabs were not much better than glancing blows but martinez had a 9% higher land rate plus his punches were clearly cleaner and harder. My lasting impression of the fight will be williams head being rocked back, i still cant believe that new jersey judge who scored it 119 - 110, maybe andre ward will try to recruit him as an official in his next home fight, LOL

Williams had a short camp, and Martinez is a damn good fighter with a style that works well with Paul.

2nd best 154 pounder in the world - With PWill edging him out...However, I do believe PWill will/would have an easier time with him the next time they fight...

BTW...You have to admire PWill for wanting to erase any confusion with his close fights because if there close "He" offers them an immediate rematch...He's sort of a throwback fighter!

Paul Williams layed it all out on the line and fought with his heart on his sleeve against a very fast and very slick Sergio Martinez. I love how when a fighter wins a very dangerous fight against a very dangerous opponent and all he does is get criticized because he showed that he is vulnerable. All you have to do is watch the first fight with Quintana to understand that PWill is very beatable and very human. But that does not change the fact that he has tremendous heart and will go out on his shield against anyone he steps in the ring with. Then on on top of that he already said he is ready to fight Sergio again to set the record straight a SECOND time. I thought Paull won the fight but if someone thought that Sergio edged him out i wouldnt argue that. Its not Paul williams fault one of the judges was dirty.
