Cus Sergio Martinez is strong, and older fighter and a little smarter.
I have no idea what fight that judge who scored 119-110 was watching. But i called it a closer fight that than. Either a draw or goes to Sergio.
Martinez seemed like he was backing up, but when Paul persued him Serigo stuck him with a stiff jab. On top of that, Martinez caught Williams with some lead hooks and straight left. To me, it looked like Martinez was catching Williams with cleaner effective punches.
Williams, however, caught his opponent with some sets to keep him off him, but i don't think that Martinez was seriously hurt during that fight.
Even though a punch lands, the judges should be watching the effectiveness of that punch and the aggressiveness. But what do i know.
I'd call it a split decision going to Martinez. However, it could also have ended in a draw.
I think bad judging is what's hurting boxing right now. It's time to get those old guys out of there. This isn't the 1950's anymore. ALI isn't fighting, and it's not black vs. white. They need some new age judges.
On another note, i'd rather have Max Kellerman judge than commentate. She should really shut the fcuk up.Comment
