Nah Roy was on wobbly legs by the looks of it after he broke the clinch. I hope Roy doesn't fight Hopkins because it's going to an easy win for Hopkins but pretty meaningless.
Roy Jones - " I didn't know why the ref stopped it"

Yeah thats the major difference, Jones had not been down down in the Tarver fight.
Its a bit like Calzaghe vs Manfredo. Although Manfredo was not throwing back he had not been down like Roy.Comment

After the knockdown, he wasn't returning fire. Then, after the ref seperated them, Roy stumbled back into the ropes, only to take more punishment, while not fighting back. Pretty easy stoppage imo.Comment

Roy got caught plane and simple. Although one could argue the spot of the punch, regardless, he needed to fight back after he got up or try to stay in the fight and he didn't. Jones Jr. - Hopkins II for another paycheck.Last edited by The Great Shark; 12-03-2009, 10:01 AM.Comment

....yeeeeaaaaa
riiiight
that's just Roy's ego talking. The ref did his job well. He gave Roy ample time to prove that he could still exchange... but Roy wobbled back to the ropes and did nothing for another string of punches. It's ok Roy you left on your shield. It's ok to hang them up, you had a helluva run.Comment

I agree with Roy, he was intelligently defending himself. Aside from a few bodyshots everything was deflected off his gloves.
I'm certain if Roy made it out of the round he would have won the fight but the ref stole that chance from him.
Hopkins vs Jones II, set it up.Comment

I've some sympathy with Jones on this, refs do stop fights more quickly these days. There is always the possibility that Green would have punched himself out without putting away Jones, probably not but you never know.Comment
