Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. was upset by the Australian Danny Green, the 40-year-old boxer was stopped in the first round after the ref called the fight when Jones received a barrage of blows immediately after being dropped from a right hand. According to Jones however the fight was stopped prematurely as the majority of Green's final onslaught was blocked.
"You know I went in there, I was feeling him out keeping at distance with the jab but then I got lazy with my back near the corner and didn't defend myself properly. I made a silly mistake and got caught it's as simple as that, props to Danny Green for doing what he had to he saw the opportunity and took advantage of it. I was still hurt from the knockdown so I was looking to recover and just get my senses back. Most of his shots weren't getting through my guard so I didn't know why the ref stopped it. If I had known the referee was going to jump in and stop it, I would have tried to fight back or get out of there."
Whether or not Jones decides to step back in the ring is unclear but the Pensacola native revealed no intentions of winding down his legendary career, citing a potential rematch with Bernard Hopkins as one of the main reasons.
"This was just a temporary setback, I've been in this position many times before. A true fighter wouldn't just get up and quit, I still want the rematch with Bernard [Hopkins]. I know he wants it, I want it, the fans want it. There's no reason for it to not happen."

Seems like Roy still wants that fight with Hopkins, personally I would still like to see it. Roy beats Danny Green 9/10 times anyway.
