Watch 'Roy' post 2004 and watch him against Hopkins, Toney, Griffin, Woods, etc when he was a strutter.

One version of the man was clearly better.

Those who want to argue Roy is not one of the best ever, and who only use Roy's losses post-Ruiz to make their case, may know a bit about baseball. But not boxing. Cleverer opponents will use Roy's resume pre-2004 against him, but still know Roy was untouchable (in any reasonable sense of the word) until 6-7 years ago.

Roy Jones, in and near his prime, could potentially beat anyone, including most heavyweights.

    Period.
So what you are saying is milk dud beat Roy Jones? Or was it the Roids he used to bulk up to heavyweight and then having to shed that weight fighting and should have been losing to milk dud the first time they fought?

If anything he is becoming underrated quickly with these unnecessary losses.

Why do you say that? is it because he started losing when he was past his prime. Ray Leonard getting stopped by Camacho is far more embarassing than Roy Jones losses. In in prime Roy demolishes the fighters of the past or current at his weight class or close to that you have in front of him.

I stand by my statement, however the guy who said he could beat any heavy must be high on cough syrup.

                You didn't get the memo?

Only Roy Jones is allowed to be judged on one portion of his career.

This is common knowledge man, you have to get with the program, or you're just a hater.

That can be said for tons of great fighters.

Its time to let that one go. Its been overused to death.

Roy Jones in not the only fighter to have a great prime.

However, he is one of the few who didn't face the best competition often in his prime.

Roy Jones will undoubtedly be the most overrated fighter by fans.

His talent was second to none, but his resume isn't top 40.

To me I would put him as the best ever. My favourite boxer, but really common, top 20 of all time for sure, if I wasnt biased I would put him top 10 not first. P4P I would say best of all time, seriously I would. If he won yesterday what would that have been? 5-6 weight classes? Its tough shedding weight and he did well. Champs and entertainer he did in boxing what trainers would tell you not to do and he did it with success, thats saying alot. I just hope when ppl mention Roys name they remember his hay days and not the end of his career that everyone will say he was a nobody cause its farrrrrrrrr from it. He made boxing entertaining which needed it at the time.He had character and his speed was unchanny back then. Man what a bad feeling when a boxer retires like this, its my first boxer favourite who is done and the feeling sux.
