taking place at 168lbs?
Tough one to call really.
Both bring speed to the ring.
Roy obviously edges it with the power.
Roy threw more of his punches at angles.
Prime Roy reflexes were second to none.
If they were to trade I would at expect Joe to get knocked down at least once. He would not be that silly however.
However, Calzaghe may be able to outwork him.
Calzaghe is also good at adjusting in the ring against opponents and finishes strong usually.
I find it tough to call. If they were to fight a few times i would expect at least one win for the both boxers.Comment

Respect for giving Jones his credit at least and not picking Calzaghe as the winner automatcally like most of the Brits have a habbit of doing.
I think Jones would have won this fight as easy as he won the Toney fight. Every major fighting/boxing characteristic favors jones. He had the better speed, reflexes, power, accuracy, experience, scoring ability.. The only characteristic Calzaghe might have had over him is workrate.
A fair matchup would have been Toney vs Calzaghe. I don't think Calzaghe was on Jones level.
Toney was a great fight btw don't get me wrong, only his style wasn't made for jones.Comment

Of course I will give credit to Jones Jr.
Jones Jr however should have made more of an effort to get the Benn, Eubank and Calzaghe (earlier).
Calzaghe could give anyone fighting at 168lbs a tough fight (as agreed by a number of boxers). Anyday and that is the truth.Comment

I don't know much about the Benn and Eubank scenario, but I would have wished he fought Calzaghe. I know that Calzaghe had that rule where he only fought in Britain and wasn't known much for Jones to take the fight and fly all the way to England.
All I know though is that if Cazlaghje really wanted to prove himself as the best in the world, he should have got out of Britain and fought the best the world had to offer...Only then his legacy wouldn't have been questioned if he really was as great as some think he isComment

Have we now narrowed that trio to just one? Eubank also said that he thought Jones would beat him. But that's neither here nor there. The question is, what did they do to get in the ring with him? Isn't it ironic that Jones, a middleweight, moved up and managed to face the best fighter in the division? Was Toney ducking Eubank as well?Comment
