  • nyak...nyak ...nyak. stop barking and fall in line after you win against Berto. people wants Pac vs. Mayweather because they think they are the two best welterweights. If you think you are the best then you are entitled to your opinion but just keep quiet and train for your fight.

    • Pac v Floyd has to happen next, the time is right

Pac v Floyd is not for title of best welterweight, it is title of p4p best. It is Pac and Floyd's achievements are many weights which makes them p4p NO 1 and 2.

I have no problem with Mosley fighting the winner of Pac/Floyd but Pac/Floyd must happen first

      • People are bringing up Paul Williams challenging Mosley to get in the ring with him in this thread and it's a legit point to bring up because if Mosley had fought him this year and beat him he would have a lot more leverage to get a fight with Floyd or Pac. But the results of chasing those guys for a payday and stature has got him a fight instead with an unproven prospect in Berto in January of 2009 when he could've taken a fight with Williams some time in the late summer or early fall. And as a result, he is tied up in a fight and that is why he's not Pacquiao or Mayweather's priority. If Mosley would've fought Williams and won, it would've been a lot better for him. Trust me.

Berto didn't get the nerve to fight Mosley overnight. Dibella had drug his feet and Paul would've fought Shane just like that. Even if Mosley lost that fight by a close margin at 154 or some weight like that, he could still keep his belt at 147 and he wouldn't totally be out of the picture when it comes to getting in the ring with Floyd or Pacquiao as long as he gave Williams a competitive fight like he did with Cotto. I just think the reward for Mosley fighting Paul Williams would've outweighed the risk contrary to popular belief around here.

U hit the nail rite on the head, u knew u were going to get ****ted on, I'll be the 1st.. Clottey "officially" lost to cotto, he would definately lose to 146 pounder, he don't have the experience or the rite corner to beat ssm, he lost to margarito (with or with out plaster), still think berto workrate beats clottey,he mite be top 5 but definately not #1. I'll give u this though, u have a good avi featuring one of the best if not the best trilogies..

Having said that the fact is that if you fight at 142, 145 or 147 it will be clasified as a WW fight whether we like it or not (which I dont) and for that matter Pacman has been more impressive at WW recently (the since Nov. of 2007) than Mosley. The 2-0 record buy Pacman are more impressive than the 1-1 record, especially when 1 of the 2 wins of Pacman, includes a victory over a man who defeated Mosley.
The point I/m making of course is that making an opponent come onto the scales at less than a comfortable weight,{ often by dangling big money} is GREAT as a business and career move, but it often gives your fighter a huge advantage not envisioned, nor meant to be, by the long ago arbiters of the different division weight structures.

And your fighter's management team knows this and that's why these matches are made; not to level "the playing field" but to give the fighter in the "driving"seat [the money seat] the winning advantage so that he'll stay in the "money" seat.....

As I say, a perfect example is Corrales. Another one I think is Daniel Santos, the other night, although he wasn't asked to come in at a punitive weight, obviously had to take off a lot more than was comfortable for him. Therefore he could only fight like a hypnotized novice.

Cotto could only "hold his own" for a few rds at the beginning.

So as far as I'm concerned, Manny, although an obviously potentially very successful welterweight, has to allow his opponents to weigh in at the welterweight limit of 147.

Otherwise it's as fraudulent as was Ray Leonard's phony [same]fight for the 168 lb and 175 lb titles, although restricting his opponent, Donny LaLonde, the 175 lb title holder, (forced to put his 175 lb title on the line) , to come in at no more than ......168.

                Fraud???.......Absolutely!

I'm next in line then. Clottey is perhaps the most overrated fighter in the sport (now that Margarito has been fully exposed). Clottey is a solid pro, but that is it. He is, at his very best, a B+ level fighter. Any truly elite welter, not off his game, will handle Clottey. Having said that, I scored the Cotto fight for Clottey, but I also think Cotto is damaged goods since the Margarito fight. SSM is my favorite fighter in the game. He's got his flaws and he's far from being in his prime, but he would still do a number on Clottey.

True that. Clottey doesn't know how to turn the heat up when it is called for and when it counts.
