And your fighter's management team knows this and that's why these matches are made; not to level "the playing field" but to give the fighter in the "driving"seat [the money seat] the winning advantage so that he'll stay in the "money" seat.....

As I say, a perfect example is Corrales. Another one I think is Daniel Santos, the other night, although he wasn't asked to come in at a punitive weight, obviously had to take off a lot more than was comfortable for him. Therefore he could only fight like a hypnotized novice.

Cotto could only "hold his own" for a few rds at the beginning.

So as far as I'm concerned, Manny, although an obviously potentially very successful welterweight, has to allow his opponents to weigh in at the welterweight limit of 147.

Otherwise it's as fraudulent as was Ray Leonard's phony [same]fight for the 168 lb and 175 lb titles, although restricting his opponent, Donny LaLonde, the 175 lb title holder, (forced to put his 175 lb title on the line) , to come in at no more than ......168.

      Fraud???.......Absolutely!
I did understand your point initially but there's nothing that you and me can do about but complain. I have been vocal and expressive about the catchweight and specially when titles are on the line. I do consider that Catchweight are good to see fight that we might dream of, like seeing fighter from different weight meet at any particular weight just to be able to match their skills against each other but not for titles.

But once a fighter agrees to lower his weight for a title, legacy or money there's nothing you, me or any other fan, whether we like it or not, can do about it but complain and it's not a fraud because it is the boxers themselves who are agreeing, on a signed contract, to do so.

I was on of the most fierce defenders on this website, of Cotto when his 1st stand about not putting the title on the line for Pacquiao if it was a catchweight fight but once Cotto agreed (or was bought) I had to shut up. Although dissapointed, there was nothing I could do about it because my fighter had already agreed and everybody is doing it in boxing today. Hell could you imagine if Mosley would had fought Pacquiao, he had already agreed to come down to 142 lbs. All the superstars of this generation are doing it and this won't stop here because we live in a world where money rules and although it is sad, and once again I am against it, if the fighter agrees to fight at catchweight it is not fraud and it will go into the record books and boxing history as WW fight.

It is not a matter of how this catchweight issue can affect or not affect a boxer any more. It's about boxers accepting these catchweight for different reasons 95% of which, is for the money.

Beleive me my friend when I say I agree with your opinion of the catchweight, that's why I give a slight advantage to Mosley as the # 1 WW, but at the same time if the fighters themselves agree to it, there is not much we can do about it and like I said before even Mosley (the guy that you and me are defending as top WW) was willing to fight Pacman at 142. Is it outrageous? Yes, but at this point and era it has become part of boxing.

      Peace!!

          • Manny beating Mosley is a bigger accomplishment than Manny beating Floyd. Mosley is a true WW champion and the best one right now IMO. I truly believe the only reason Manny's camp turned down Mosley's challengend is because they had their schedule set for Floyd first. I say if Manny beats Floyd, go after Mosley next if he is still a Champ, and then he could have a chance to have all of the WW titles right before retiring.

            • I know Mosley was beaten by Cotto, but until Pac steps in a ring with Mosley and beats him or someone else does so, Mosley is the man at 147.

                Are you talking about mayweather?

Mosley cannot claim that he is the king. he was beaten by cotto.
                Pac KO Cotto

PAC will be the king if he beats Margarito (the only other man who beat Cotto)
