Why are you fellows not so supportive of this idea by a man looking to get his fighter every cent possible?

      And?
It is a business. Always has been. This is really the reason why Old School fighters fought often. You can even read about Old School fighters taking some easy fights just to make a buck...and even in some other fighters not letting loose because you don't want to break your hands because you have a fight next week.

It depends what you want from it and at what points in your career.

Floyd wasn't wrong when he said it was a business nor was he wrong with Ali and selling his name. Even Ali in an interview at a certain point in his career said the same thing Floyd said: It's about making money now not legacy anymore.

It's the same with many athletes that hit an age and need to grab as much as they can at the tail end of their career because that is it for them.

When you are young you set your legacy and start to build your house...and when you are maturer/older, you have to make sure you can still pay the bills/taxes on your house or you will find yourself out on the street.
That's what I got out of what Floyd was saying.

However, he still had an opportunity when he moved up years ago to 147 to keep adding to his legacy by fighting more.
It was a must to fight Baldomir...no question...lineal title...but, why Judah?
Why not fight more often as well?

Although he did try to get Shane into the ring back then according to him so...if true, that would have held higher than it would now.
Legacy and Money together would be Pac as of now.
Legacy but not so much money would be Paul Williams.
Williams should actually give more legacy points to Mayweather if he won compared to fighting anyone else at 147, including Pac...but the truth is, it probably won't be that big of a deal because most just look at "names."
Many actually just look at "names" and not so much where they are at in their career or what is going on.
Even Roach said at one point something like....people will only remember "W" or "L"

How does that answer the question?

Do you or do you not think those that support the "Boxing is a business" mantra should support Freddie in this matter?

Boxing is a business, always has been, but when the business side of the sport prevents the good fights from happening, I'm still going to whine about it.

I don't care if so and so makes $10 million instead of $7 million or whatever by fighting a certain opponent in a less intriguing matchup. I understand it, but still dislike it.

                Agree:

“When you get hit that’s when you’ve got to be calm. A professional fighter has to learn how to hit and not get hit, and at the same time be exciting. That’s what professional boxing is about. You’ve got to be clever, you’ve got to be smart, and not get hit, and when you’re able to do this, you’re a fighter.” ~Cus D'Amato

                  Not sure I follow.

Aren't both Freddie and Floyd using the "Boxing is a business" angle?

If it was about legacy both would just split it 50/50 and get on with it.

But...clear it up for me so I can understand...maybe I'm not following.

                    Its pretty simple.

Based on the quote in my original post,

I don't see why the "BIAB" crowd is upset with Freddies suggestion if it indeed makes his fighter more money.

They should be happy someone is looking out for a fighters best interest when it comes to money and health.
